Here Today...

« on: February 06, 2005, 10:11:14 AM »

This is from Tommy's interview for Creative Loafing Magazine Atlanta.

So what's the status of the Guns project right now?

They're finishing up the mixing right now. Sorting out what songs are going on it and artwork and shit. And hopefully sooner than later, it'll come out. I understand there's probably some European dates booked in the summer. Hopefully, that'll happen and we'll get over there and do it. Once it gets going, it's a lot of fun. There's a lot of fuckin' work involved with getting it going, but once it is going, it's a lot of fun.

ok it's a good point but it's not the first time we hear bandmembers saying "it's coming". There have been lots of illusions over these last years. w will see what happens.

Thanks for posting that.

Now he's mentioning touring plans in addition to the album's release.

Thanks. so he "THINKS...."  Hehe, neat title.  ok
Other parts are also Interesting, like the following.

What's your take on the state of pop music right now?
"I'm just starting to hear bands I like again. There was a while there in the '90s, that I couldn't deal. It was horseshit. Now people are gettin' kinda creative and stepping out of the whole major record company grasp and doing more interesting things and mixin' it up a bit. I didn't hear much of that in the '90s at all."

Still in the mixing stage, eh? Thought the music was done...

I'd hate to see any more shows without an album. (Unless the show was all-new material).

This is killing me. How about a release first. I rather have album first, Axl better deliver before my ass hits anymore of his concerts. Sorry Tommy, that's what the fans deserve. AXL KNOWS IT

but the music IS done
the "mixing" is when you record ALL the music, and just sit, have a couple of beers and decide how to put "this parto to that part... that scream with effect... that drum a little bit low..."

THEN, with the mix done, you MASTER the whole thing and then is 100% done to release...

well, Tommy saying that they are MIXING, just made me thing that melodies and vocals are done.

Actually,

Axl has promised the fans a new album for ten years

He does owe us something

We don't deserve anything? After ten years of faithful support i'd say we do - u forget, we are Axl's boss - not the record label, we're the one's that buy the stuff, we keep him off the streets, we paid for his mansion and his cars.

Without the fans an artist is nothing, the good bands realise that. I don't know if Axl does, but without us he'd still be doing drugs in LA's slums

It wouldn't make any sense to mix a track as long as it's not fully recorded, that's for sure. But mixing can take a loooong time, especially with the recording process that has been described before.
