According to a posting at www.SuperHeroHype.com, newly recorded tracks by METALLICA, VELVET REVOLVER, AUDIOSLAVE, PEARL JAM, Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION) and CHEVELLE are among the songs that are slated to appear on the "Batman Begins" soundtrack, tentatively due in late May/early June. Also purportedly scheduled for inclusion are three songs from GREEN DAY (the two newly recorded tracks, and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", which is said to be the film's "theme song"), as well as newly recorded cuts from THE CURE and FOO FIGHTERS.

"Batman Begins", helmed by the cutting-edge director of "Memento", Christopher Nolan, is set to receive a U.S. theatrical release on June 17.

That's hilarious - some pop song being the soundtrack to a film supposedly dark and 'gothic', absurd. It's a bit like having Britney Spears doing the soundtrack to a horror movie.

 A spokesperson at METALLICA's management company, Q Prime, has reportedly rejected an Internet report that METALLICA will appear on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie, "Batman Begins". The soundtrack is tentatively due to arrive in late May or early June. Other artists that were rumored to contribute new material to the soundtrack are GREEN DAY, VELVET REVOLVER, AUDIOSLAVE, CHEVELLE, PEARL JAM, FOO FIGHTERS, THE CURE and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro. A representative for GREEN DAY has since said reports of the trio's involvement in the project are "not true." "Batman Begins", which stars Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader in his early years, opens in theatres on June 17.

METALLICA has only contributed a new song to a film soundtrack once before, when they recorded "I Disappear" for 2000's "Mission: Impossible 2".

I wish there was a word to describe how much I agree with you but it doesn't exist. The first two are some of my favorite movies and 3&4 make me throw up in my mouth.
