VELVET REVOLVER Record Acoustic Version Of 'Fall To Pieces' - Jan. 27, 2005

VELVET REVOLVER recorded an acoustic version of their song "Fall to Pieces" on Wednesday (Jan. 26) during an all-day session at Lavish studios, the Los Angeles recording/rehearsal facility owned by VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland and producer/engineer Douglas Grean. Meanwhile, a release date has been set for the recently recorded benefit single featuring a number of today's top pop/rock stars, including VELVET REVOLVER, AEROSMITH's Steven Tyler and Ozzy Osbourne. The cover of ERIC CLAPTON's "Tears in Heaven", sales of which will benefit the Disasters Emergency Committee's Tsunami Earthquake Appeal, will receive a U.K. release on Monday, February 21, according to informed sources.

I don't know, man. Some songs just ain't that good in acoustic as they were in their original version. But there are exceptions. I'm curious about how's this turn out... Smiley

I'd rather they record something new ... is this for a B-side or something?

Im assuming anything new they record will be saved for an album...

Not sure where this song will surface, but it sounds good.

I'm sure they'll re-release Contraband in April or so with one bonus track: Fall To Pieces (Acoustic).

Actually, they could probably release a version of Contraband in March as well with Tears in Heaven as a bonus track.

There are some good songs on Contraband but "Fall To Pieces" ain't one of 'em.  Tongue

So why make an acoustic version of it?  Huh

Then again, the acoustic version of "You're Crazy" is superior to the original, so ya never know.  Lips Sealed

You're Crazy was originally written in acoustic but they made a new version to fit AFD. Maybe even FTP was written as an acoustic, who knows?

I seem to recall that aslo and I love acoustic shit too. The acoustic side of Lies still blows me away to this day...Not to mention the acoustic "Slither" that is the balls too.

A friend of mine once met Deep Purple at a bar, and they said to him:

"If a song can't be played acoustically, then it shouldn't be written."

Of course, I'd like to hear them try to do an acoustic version of Perfect STrangers... but you get the point.

I remember him saying that he wrote FTP on an acoustic too.. which means I find this very amusing:

Slash:"the tune 'You Got No Right' is played on a Takamine [it's actually a Taylor cutaway, says guitar tech Adam Day] recorded via microphone and pickup. Just to make it sound more electric. That was the only song I wrote on acoustic." (Total Guitar, April 2004)
