Boo!
I?m a bit confused about the number. Tommy said, CD was made by 8 members of which 2 were not in the band anymore. Whom do these numbers imply?

Axl, Robin, Richard, Tommy, Brain, Dizzy, and Chris are the current GNR members. The only other additional member that will be featured on the album is Buckethead. People are always talking about how Josh Freeze, and Paul Huge, and everyone else will be on the album, but their parts have been re-recorded...

You have to stop with the moving text stuff.
You're beginning to influence people.

Nothing against Paul Huge/Tobias, but if you've got a player like Richard Fortus hangin' around, why in the world would you keep Paul's recordings on the album? I suspect Axl will come to the same conclusion.
I think the recording line-up will be: Rose, Finck, Fortus, Stinson, Brain, Dizzy, Chris + guest "employee" Buckethead.
I still retain hope that Buckethead will rejoin this band when they're actually ready to do something.

Gotcha. That I agree with. I'm sure there are a ton of songs on CD that Huge will come away with some credits on (writing, etc.).

Judging by everything I've heard and read since the summer of 1999, my guess would be that
everyone
who has been involved in the process of making Chinese Democracy will be on the record to some degree or another.
Seems that a main theme of Axl's regarding the new album was making it a collabrative effort. My personal opinion is that who makes what track depends on who best compliments the given song. If that makes any sense...
The Dude expects to hear -
(vocals)
W. Axl Rose
(guitar)
Robin Finck
Buckethead
Richard Fortus
Paul Huge
? other
(bass)
Tommy Stinson
(drums)
Josh Freese
Brian Mantia
(keyboards, etc.)
Dizzy Reed
Chris Pittman

My bad. It was actuary 8 men, with 2 others who are not in the band.
The undertaking was pretty much a large collaboration between eight people, even a couple others who aren't around anymore, but maybe started with pieces of the old band or whatever. -Tommy in September 04
BTW, Doesn?t it sound like he counted BH among those who were still around? Then, it?s Odd coz he had already made a remark or two about him by that time. Maybe? maybe?
According to this quote, posts here and Common knowledge, the followings are most likely to be featured on CD
8 people=
W Axl Rose, Dizzy Reed, Tommy Stinson, BRIAN 'BRAIN' MANTIA, Robin Finck, Richard Fortus, Chris Pitman ---the who in the current line-up
+Buckethead---??
2 others=
Paul Tobias [Guitar], Josh Freese [Drums]
