i've always wondered what was the thing that made slash make his decision of leaving Gn'R. I'm sure there must've been lots of situations that made him unhappy in Gn'R, but i was always curious about what was the last thing, the last drop of water.
and i finally found it!
3 days ago i met Keri Kelly, ex-snakepit and now with adler's appetite (by the way, their new EP rocks), and he told me what slash had told him about that day.

Gn'R had this big rehearsal space rented, where they put on a whole stage set and twhere they were jamming new songs for a new album, and you all know that slash used to play on the left side of the stage, alone, while duff and the rhytmh guitarrist (Paul Huge at the time) were on the right side. So on that day, Slash arrived the set, and all his stuff had been moved to the right side. He went to his tech, Adam, and asked him what happened, and Adam said Axl ordered him to move Slash's stuff, so the new guy could be alone on the right side. Slash just told him to pack the stuff and left the band right there.

well, this doesn't say much about the axl/slash fight, who's right or who's wrong, there must be a whole lot more stuff behind this episode, but that's one more insight about gn'r trivia we have!

Yep, he really told us this. I was there to.
But i'm sure there's much more behind all of that.
i think they're were all sick of each other, and for me the real problem of GN'R broke up, was manegement!

By the way, Adler still rock, and the band is real good. Nice guys as well.

Cheers

The official breakup with slash was the letter axl sent to... was it mtv?
if i remember correctly, slash was a lil' suprised...  Roll Eyes

correct me if i'm wrong  yes

matt was with slash and wanted axl to get him back and was disapointed with the paul situation,
when he left paul came after him and matt called paul yoko ono or said he had just breaked up worlds greatest band...

it's detailed info about this on this page  ok

By the way, Adler still rock, and the band is real good. Nice guys as well.

Cheers

thanks for the info...and as mentioned, this was proabably one of the last straws. ?As VH1 behind the music, Slash mentions that Axl didn't even look at him during rehersals or something. ?So it musta been an intense situation. ?Although, I can imagine the two of them have butted heads in the past (as all good friends do esp. when working together on such an intamite/creative process as making music together), this time they couldn't get out of the jam. (such a shame)....

I'm sorry but I don't believe this story for a second.

I believe you're telling the true though, my problem is your source Smiley.

to the person asking about matts departure,

in 2001 i met matt while he was playing with the cult and his lowdown on the situation was

he and axl got in an argument at rehersals and basically axl told him he was fired right then. Matt walked out and was heading to his car when he heard a voice behind him. it was paul huge/tobias. Apparently he tried to talk matt around saying axl didnt mean it. Matt basically just walked away. I asked matt if axl was really an asshole and in fairness and all respect to matt he wouldn't give me a straight answer.

We spoke about other gn'r stuff from the past and the future but he was just really cool and signed all my stuff and posed for pictures.

in an interview with the German magazine Metal Hammer Slash was asked if there was a certain moment at which he knew he had to leave GNR. He said, that they were always working during the night, but sometimes Axl wouldn't show up before it was 4 o'clock in the morning. One day Slash stayed there even longer, but Axl did not come. So he went home and woke up in the morning being totally depressed. He said, if he had owned a gun, he would have used it. Fortunately, he fell asleep again, but this feeling had been really frightning. After that he decided: It's over!
