Chinese Democracy Is Coming Some Day!!!

« on: January 17, 2005, 05:03:12 PM »

I wasnt really sure where to post this... Since Clear Channel was the organizer of the 2002 tour could there be a possibility of the 2002 shows coming to DVD?

Clear Channel Signs Deal To Create Live DVDs

January 17, 2005

Clear Channel Entertainment is moving into the music DVD business, using footage from concerts held at the company's venues. CCE and Ventura Distribution have signed a multiyear deal, according to Billboard, which will lead to the release of at least a dozen music DVDs over the next two years. The DVD content will be filmed at CCE-owned venues and shot in high-definition video. The first one, Produced by Trevor Horn: The Best of the '80s, is expected to be released this spring, and will feature Yes, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, and the Pet Shop Boys.

"We want to be a player in the DVD market," CCETV president Joe Townley says. "DVD will be one of the company's largest growth areas this year. In 2005, we will exploit the ownership side of things on lots of levels. This music deal is the first one in place." Ventura EVP/GM Jim Weatherson calls Clear Channel  "the No. 1 strength in so many media areas. We can put together a lot of marketing options. It's endless, the things we can do."

Clear Channel is already planning to move beyond music in its DVD offerings, including Broadway shows and other events held at its venues around the country.

Right, Axl's lawyers would be getting the lawsuit together before Clear Channel finished the press release.

I would honestly shit my fucking pants if they did.....I have only been dreaming of something like this for a long while.

But lets get back to reality here...Axl is not going to put out a dvd before his new album.

Maybe that's why gunsnroses.us hasn't released the "Columbus Soundboard"
Maybe it's gonna be released by CC.

I doubt it though.

If CC DID release a good GN'R show (i.e. Columbus, MSG) that would be a big boost to the general public that thinks the New GN'R is a joke.

Imagine walking into Best Buy or Circut City and there is a Buckethead Solo on the plasma screen. Grin Grin Grin

It's possible that they'd put out a DVD of a future show, but I would imagine these releases they're talking about would be for upcoming concerts.  While I'm sure the band kept copies of what was projected on the screen (it's common practice to do that), they definitely weren't done with HD cameras and probably weren't done in any way condusive to being released for home viewing.

The first Vegas show (01.01.01) was definitely filmed and produced for home viewing since Universal Japan likely started the production of DVDs and VHS of the show during the summer of 2001. The video got cancelled along the way though and no one knows if complete/ retail ready versions of the DVD have been produced or not, and if that's the case, no one knows if they still exist.

I'd love to have the MSG show pro-shot.  Not only that it will prove everyone wrong and let the world know Axl's still got it.

That would be so cool. And it'd make several of us here mighty happy. But I seriously doubt Axl would stand for the shows to be released. Atleast without attempting a lawsuit or lawsuits.

The riot show? It's allready out there on DVD , pro shot by the band. Not an official release but having it actually surface so many years later gives me hope the vegas show may end up "on the net" eventually.  peace

p.s. , anyone who hasnt seen the riot show should do themselves a favor and track it down!  ok
