I appologise if this has been mentioned before (or during the time), but I just came across this old post on Blabbermouth (yeah yeah, I know!), but I thought it was kind of interest to note:

The revamped band have also reportedly recorded four new versions of the BOB DYLAN classic and GNR live staple ?Knockin' On Heavens Door?, including a reggae version, an "eclectic" rendition, and the version they played in concert at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, which is said to be ?a much more slowed down version? than the one that appears on Use Your Illusion II.

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?Mode=Archive&Date=1/5/2002

Also, this kinda supports what Dizzy said about them recording multiple versions of each new song.

Maybe if CD ever comes out it will be between 12 and 18 tracks of all the same song, but different versions of it...

Of course this and Live And Let Die are of the few "old" GN'R songs re-recorded that could be released without any resistance from Slash and Duff Grin

If Gnr does this comeback it's possible that we'll see some of this material released as b-sides...

it's weird...it seems like Axl wants to "erase" his past with the old band:
- he wanted to re-record AFD...a symbol.
- he blakened his appetite tatoo.
- now he re-records other versions of songs he played with the old band.

I know this is off topic, but since u guys are discussing Ax's tatoos (sorry for mispellin here---took 2 tylonol colds today!!)...anyways...I thought tats get lighter w/ time??  (ie. gotta retouch em....?  or is it that they just change over time--ie. can get lighter/darker/...etc?)

also, I'm sure this was discussed b4, but what about his new tat, on his wrist, of the sculls---who/what is that? does someone out there know?
thanks!

the black gets lighter with age, so you have to rewrite, detail tattos has a tendency to float as the skin streches over time, maybe it's this who makes it seems more dark? more onecolored, blurry and less details

but their def there

man, i hope not - we've already had 'knockin on heavens door' as a b-side three times plus the 'days of thunder' version - i'm so bored with that track now!  Undecided

a friend o mine met axl back in 2001 and his tatoo was ok...

1) he paints it to black with a marker or something
2) he did colored the tattoo with acrylic tints who makes it look darker for the cameras

but I belive he didn't make a fuck and the cameras just makes the tatoo to look dark

God i dont want to hear this song ever again!!!! this one and Civil War..... 4 more versions?? how many versions of this song do you need???  The song sucks and is boring to listen to.... The version from the "Days of Thunder" was the best version and they should have left it alone..

Heres an Idea for you Axl Rose.... Instead of rewriting and recording songs from your past Write a new Song!!!

I wouldn't be so radical but it seems to me Axl has a SERIOUS problem with the old band material. I have the impression he tries to "erase" the History the old band made.

It's already been a B-Side Three times (Nightrain, Knockin On Heavens Door and Yesterdays) plus the better 'Days Of Thunder' version (love them lines Axl says!) plus the usual 'Use Your Illusion' version!!

Think it's a new record Axls trying to set, most cover versions of a cover version by one band
(one band? would GN'R be counted as one band Huh)

Most bands doesnt count em as one, but most fans do
