First of all, I did not start this rumor. I want to make that perfectly clear because I don't feel like getting my ass flamed for spreading shit. This is simply a fucked up IM that I received earlier on, and I figured that I'd share in just in case it came true.

(This convo took place on AOL, for the record, but the screename is registered with AIM.)

WAR0262 [10:23 PM]:  Chinese Democracy release date 04.12.05

02.06.05 stay tuned to football
 WAR0262 [10:24 PM]:   Wink

Ok, so let's see what we have here:

-The screename is WAR0262 (W. Axl Rose, February 2, 1962): alright, could just be an obsessed fan with too much time on his/her hands.

-April 12 is a Tuesday..I checked.

- 2.6.05: Stay tuned to football. Ok, so, we have to watch the Superbowl to find this out.

-The person is more than likely American, since they used the American date system (month/day/year)

I do find it funny/ironic that Paul McCartney is doing the halftime show this year. I don't think its totally out of the question (unlikely, but not improbable) that Axl would show up and duet with Paul on "Live and Let Die".

Hell, what better way to get publicity for the album than to drop the release date during the most watched sports game of the year?

I planned on watching it anyway, and now I have even more incentive to.

If this is true, that would be a great way to reach a huge audience.? However, it sounds too good to be true.? Embarrassed

And of course, I'll relay any info to the board!  ok

Just for shits and giggles, I tried to bring up the AOL profile of this screenname...none available.

Is there anything in your AIM or AOL profile about GNR? If so maybe this person just searched for people with GNR stuff in their profiles to mess around...

Nevermind. There's an "ongoing investigation" into this. There's actually a lot behind this, but you'll find it if you look hard enough...

Not an IM per se, but there have been some weird ongoings. Consider this. Axl's birthday is Feb. 6th. Feb. 6th is the day of the Super Bowl. The half-time performer that night is Paul McCartney.

I've noticed that you're one of the few around the gnr boards who seems to have a little faith when it comes to these rumors, which is good. keep the faith man, I know I am.

anyway, I can totally see that super bowl thing happening. The only thing I can see stopping it from happening would be the NFL's possible conservative approach to picking the music guests... but other than that, I wouldn't be totally surprised if it happened. Let's hope  peace

I don't know either way, but some sort of announcement wouldn't necessarily have to come in the form of a performance...

I truly believe that this is it.? There is absolutely no way that they can get better promotion than this.? I honestly believe that we will be listening to a single from Chinese Democracy a month from now, and in 3 months we will be holding it in our hands.? We've been told that CD is done and would hopefully be mastered by November and current members have essentially confirmed that it is done and waiting.? The fact that Paul McCartney is playing as well as the Superbowl falling on Axl's birthday is too much of a perfect chance to pass by.? Axl's been waiting for the perfect time to release CD and now that we know it's done it's finally going to come.? Everything is falling into place and I don't see how anyone can deny that there is a great chance of this happening.? Is there a possibility that this won't happen, absolutely, but we know that CD is finished and April is the only rumored release date we've heard so far with a completed Chinese Democracy.? Nevermind that this rumor was started by an IM on AOL, that is besides the point.? What the world needs now is W. Axl Rose and on February 6, 2005 the world is going to get what they need.? ok smoking

Added :   I looked to see where Dizzy and Tommy would be touring at on the 6th.  Coincidently, Tommy is going to be in North Carolina the day before the Superbowl (Remember the Superbowl is in Jacksonville).  Dizzy does have a concert scheduled on the 6th in Providence, RI but the location is still TBA.  Regarding Dizzy, if GN'R is going to play, since he doesn't have a confirmed location it wouldn't be difficult to get from Conneticut on the 5th to Jacksonville on the 6th.  This assumes that Axl would even need/desire to have the rest of the band present.  Personally I would place my money that he does a duet with McCartney utilizing whatever performers McCartney has.  I just sure hope that Duff, Slash and Matt are watching the half-time show.  rofl

Wow we got ourselves our own little fuckin conspiracy going ?ok

I can't say I dont have a little hope in the ol' 6, 6, Mcartney, Live & Let Die deal.

Can someone get some projected singles McCartney could be expected to sing? Is he promoting an album? I don't think this "They're afraid of Axl Rose's un-reliability" thing is THAT much of a deal. I mean he'd have to be litteraly fucking INSANE to flake out on a Super Bowl performance. And unless they scheduled Bono, I don't think they have much that would entertain the "guys" who typically watch football.

Well, to be fair, the Half Time show is never about the guys that watch football. I mean, it's become common practice to get Britney Spears, N*Sync, Shania Twain, etc. With that being said, McCartney is a step up, seeing as he's a real musician. If I'm not mistaken, he is working on a new album, but it won't be out for a while, SB would be way to early for promotion. I dunno. I also think people are overstating this whole "Axl is unreliable" thing. If the pressures on, Axl will deliver. He would know not to drop an F-bomb and I don't think he'd pull his dick out  hihi Anything is possible. I'm one who believes that things happen for a reason, and that particular day is looking way too sexy to just be ignored. I'm not trying to start any conspiracies or anything, though. I'm just a fan...

Since no one seems to be reading the added portion of my post above, I'll post it here.
