Damn.  I love all these guys.

Ok, so my least favorite... is Layne Staley.   Cry

It was a difficult choice between him and Phil... but I listen to Phil more, I guess this is how I can justify this horrific act of voting off Layne.

How come Jon Bon Jovi and Bono weren't candidates in this festive game?

I can't believe Cobain and Vedder got the axe so quickly.? Shocked

I'll vote off Mike Patton

to me to be considered the greatest front man u have to be known

you have to be a household name, someone who people know and recognize

besides trent reznor i couldnt pick any of these other guys out of a police lineup with nothing but midgets.

so how can u all justify the greatest frontman being some cult favorite dude that very few people have heard of?

coincidence that these remaining are the only ones who werent really overexposed and played out? Undecided

Trent Reznor.  Mainly because the others made better music.

Phil Anselmo - Pantera

---------------------

Not only was Staley awesome with jerry cantrell in Alice in Chains (AIC)
He was awesome in a project called 'Mad Season' which was really different than AIC. Maybe I'll upload a song for you if I find one.

Found this from a site that gives some insight also:

For those of you who don?t know, Layne Staley, lead singer of Alice In Chains was found dead from a drug over dose on the 19th of April aged 34. He had infact died on the 5th of April, the same day that Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994.

In all honesty, I was never really a huge fan of the early nineties grunge scene. I found much of it lacking in emotional variety. Yet Alice In Chains were a band who made an impact on me from the start, the very second I heard the mournful desperation of ?Down In A Hole?, Layne and Jerry Cantrell?s voices weaving in and around each other with such beauty for male vocals; one so above, one so below.

Layne won?t become an icon in the way that Kurt Cobain has. Somehow I can?t see teenagers that are tots now wearing t-shirts with his face on in ten years time. His death has come long after the peak of his popularity, and as he didn?t go out in a blaze of glory, he?ll never be entered into that club which consists of Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Ian Curtis, 2 Pac, Jim Morrison and Freddie Mercury.? But perhaps that is in some ways for the best, as it will be Staley?s music that will remain, a treasured memento from a talented artist. The words of Ian Curtis touched me also as a teenager, even though he had died a full decade before I first heard them, and I hope that others will be able to say the same of Layne Staley?s songs in the future. Layne?s death may have authenticated much of the dark emotion in his words, but let us realise that recognising such emotions is equally a part of beginning a healing process, it just sad that Layne was too far down his own path to realise this when tragedy struck."

Plus let me add that these days within the media - the MTV fuckers or just about anybody else in the media are not allowed OR/Disallow talk about artists who have died of drug related instances. that is the reality of it & its sad that reality can not be reported or praised. < now that is a fact
& when & if it is reported, it is merely a memo.

the end

judging by the last two survivors im almost afraid of who the people on this board will elect as best 80's frontman

i guarantee whoever it is will only be marginally famous cause it isnt cool to like someone who was over exposed and mainstream anymore

in these survivors i would like it if people could go back in time to when shit was hot.

looking back in hindsight is different than the actual moment which is how kurt cobain could be voted off so fast.

Now should he win? thats up for debate but look at the list of people who survived longer than he did? it just doesnt make sense.

and im not a cobain fanatic but i can go back in time and remember how crazy and just how great he was before it became uncool to like him.
