http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=29344 If it's true, then maybe Axl feels he really is to blame and he's trying to keep Buckethead in afterall.? Or, maybe legally, he has to pay off his contract? don't shoot the messenger jarmo

my bet is that he's still under contract. Axl wouldn't want to work with someone who didn't want to be in the band, and is probably grateful for his contributions. i wouldn't read too much into this regarding axl feeling bad for buckethead...who cares realy, i don't think hes coming back.

I don't think he's coming back either.
I bet Axl does have to pay his contract out though and it probably ends this year.

...taking this with a grain of salt, as BH going back to GNR would be really bad for him - his original fan base would have a cow

If its true they are still paying him its probably because they are keeping his parts on the album.

someone would have to be pretty DAMN close to have this info
IF there is any truth to this and payment under contract terms is/has continued it could just be so that GN'R can not be accused of breaking the terms of the contract - so that in any future legal actions Buckethead's counsel can not claim that he withdrew due to lack of payment the GN'R side could then clearly demonstrate that Buckethead failed to perform under a valid contract which he was still receiving payment under any moneys paid can be recooperated (sp?) under future legal action these things take time and i suppose this could be some sort of explanation of what could be going on - my guess is all

but you can legally kill the contract through negotiations?

I can't understand why Axl wouldn't just try to buy BH out of his contract.....at this point in time, its pretty clear he won't be back...Any money BH would/will receive from having his parts on Cd would come from royalties and songwriting credits regardless...No need to have a hefty salary on the books

With how much control Axl has over everything (or so we have been told) I am sure his lawyer would make sure any contracts have a "at will" clause. Meaning if Axl fires you, or you quit the contract is nulll and void.

It's the new home of the rumorboard, the old site will be gone soon.

While I was bummed when I heard that Buckethead left GN'R, as long as hit guitar parts remain on the record, it's all good in the end.
