And you might have heard Pretty Tied Up and you know that Izzy wrote this GN'R song about GN'R. What a surprise. Sorry, I'm a fan since 1989 and I saw them losing their edge during the UYI tours, and as you surely know, this sig originally refelcted to GN'R state in 1990-1991. But you know that it has become a real joke for now. Quite sad, I still believe that Axl is incredible and I hope that someday CD will come out and meet the expectations. I'm afraid you are who is biased.

I'll take Slither and Sucker Train Blues over Madagascar and the Blues any day of the week.  Contraband doesn't suck.  Disappearing from the public and giving them nothing....that sucks.

because Rock music isn't ROCK music anymore. That's a long story but, if Rock music isn't the #1 music in the world it's because most of Rock bands over these last 10 years haven't been that great. In the early 90's, Rock Music dominated the world, one week it was GN'R, the other week it was U2, the other one it was Nirvana, the other one it was REM etc...I mean most of 90's Rock classic albums were released between 1991 and 1993: the illusions, archtung baby, nevermind, black album, ten, etc... there was quality.

I understand that, I was just answering your questions about why you haven't seen their singles on MTV at #1. In today's musical climate, they have done about all a middle aged rock band can do in terms of chart position.

i personally dont understand how anyone on this site can say that contraband sucks if they are gnr fans, it is the closest thing to gnr that we have or might ever get again.  in my opinion the album is very good and to compare it to what we have from new gnr i would say the blues and maddy are better then anything on cb but the last 5 tracks on cb i feel are awsome and are better then anything else gnr gave us(rhiad silkworms omg cd). the bottom line is to say vr sucks then you are making it a Mets and Yankees thing or a Axl and Slash thing it is stupid

well i think its pretty safe to say axl has listened to contraband and its not like it'd be a big suprise or a big deal or anything since Axl has openly said that he's listened to the ex-members solo albums. . .somehow i highly doubt this DJ's story has much truth to it other then the fact that im sure axl has given it a listen

2 summers ago on the official VR site, someone posted a couple times that Axl heard Set Me Free and liked it, and told someone whos close to VR. Take that rumour for what its worth, but most people on that message board seemed to believe him.

I would take bootlegs of Madagascar and the Blues over Slither and STB. I thought the Contraband album had some great ballads but the rockers bored me. It was a sideways movement in rock music from individuals who used to blaze the trails in the early 90s. At this stage in Slash's career, I expect more, not more of the same.

I think Madagascar alone is better than the entire album of Contraband.  This song alone is great, and one of the most epic songs ever created.  When Axl actually comes out with the album it will sell, amaze, and conquer the rock world.

VR just made an album which will  be forgotten after 5 years. well, maybe we remember the hype, but that's all.

Contraband was a huge let down. slash always claimed he left gnr because axl was going in a different direction, slash wanted to make another AFD but instead of doing that he made an STP album, go figure.

I've never seen VR in the MTV Top 20, and CERTAINELY NOT at #1. I've never heard or seen any VR singles on french radiostations or on french TV. If I were not on this board, I wouldn't know VR even exists. 99% here don't know who "Velvet Revolver" are.

#1 singles on "modern Rock" VH1 charts are insignifiant. It doesn't mean anything.
The real Chart is the MTV Top 20, it shows the best selling singles and albums in the world.

I like VR but I wouldn't consider this band as "popular" or "very successfull". They have success, ok, but that's not a Rock phenomenon ala GN'R 87-93. If it was the case, Contraband would have sold 10 million copies +, or 15 million copies+? but they are far, very far from that.

well your a fucking idiot...theyve had 2 number one singles on the MAINSTREAM rock charts not just VH1, they are played on music plus in quebec regularly, have had 1 number 3 and 1 number 1 song on the Much music countdown whcih is the equivilant to MTV in canada and theyve had one of teh best selling rock albums oif the year. Oh and about 99% of the board not knowing who they are, theres an entires ection devoted to them and this conversations about them, im sure someone has picked up they exist.
