Its something different and will be a big surprise

« Reply #1 on: December 27, 2004, 11:34:47 PM »

it sux it really does...who the hell knows...

But I think that they are going to release the album before any tour begins. So nothing is out of question yet.....

I know everyone is banking on Feb. but I wouldnt count on it. If its not out by May, which means a single in april or beg of May, then I doubt we are gonna see the album but who knows...May release with a summer european fetsival kinda tour and then a fall arena tour here in the states...something like 2002...just with he album already out

Don't knock it.

At the moment, both Tommy and Dizzy have dates scheduled up until the weekend prior to Valentine's Day. It was already known that Tommy would be on tour in Jan/Feb, while Dizzy's known to be the other active tourer in the GNR camp. Therefore it's really no big surprise that he's following suit.

And Tommy has said the record may very well come out while he's touring with VGH.

If the record comes out with band members on the road doing their own thing that only means this thing will be a complete disaster. After seeing the amount of time and effort the VR guys put into promo and the countless hours of crap you do, all 7 members of GNR are going to have to be promoting this thing 24/7 to get the exposure we want it to. Besides, does anyone really see Axl doing promo crap every day. It is going to end up falling on the other band members, and having the 2 longest running and most personable members (Dizzy and Tommy) out on tour is not going to cut it regardless of how anyone around here spins it. This album is once in a lifetime for all the parties involved in making it, and I refuse to believe that it is in the best interest of the record to not have them together promoting the thing.

This project has been tattered for too long, and at some point the 7 of them are going to have to get in a room together and begin executing a decent marketing strategy. That can't be done when you have members out on the road doing other stuff. THat would have been like the VR record coming out in June while Slash was touring with Snakepit or Duff was with Loaded, it just wouldn't have worked and wouldn't have made them look professional. GNR needs to at some point pull together and act like a real band......divide and conquer has proven to be unsuccessful.

Perhaps the album will have some merits of its own, and won't have to rely on hype?

Just having a good album in 2005 is not enough. You need to be visible. You have to hustle and get after it. Sitting back and assuming everyone is going to go gaga is not going to move product. Especially when your not a rapper or Usher, who's video is shown on MTV  or played on KISS Fm every 5 seconds. For a rock group in this corporate climate, you are going to have to be out there if you want to move a tremendous amount of product and really rule the music world given the no matter how good the music is you won't be seen on MTV and won't be heard on many of the largets radio formats(given that very few are rock friendly that play top 40 type stuff which has the biggest reach audience wise.)

So yes, in terms of music reality for a rock band in 2005, GNR are going to have to get after it publicity wise or someone else will. Regardless of how good the music on the album is. At least in America it is a very style over substance country. Just having one is not enough, you have to do both.

This album is apparently no where close to being released.  A real shame.  People should stop holding out hope for a February release at this point.  The marketing machine would have to already be in full throttle to make a February release.  I agree with Naupis on that point.  And apparently Tommy and Reed know nothing about the release either.

As for Dizzy in Providence, (I live in Providence and am a huge Patriots fan), no one will go see him if the Pats are in the Super Bowl and no one will go see him if they are not.  It won't make much of a difference.

This is getting depressing really.  I had to laugh out loud when a poster in this thread said that a May release with a summer festival tour was more likely.  I have seen that same thing on this board for the last 3 years.  What is most likely is that this thing is held up due to legal issues or lack of quality product and is a very very long way away from being released.

agreed..
he doesnt even have a guitar player named since fuckithead left.... ?for the past 3 years Tommy and Dizzy have been playing those little liquor barn bars and telling all the internet fans that "soon" ?or something... Remember when Dizzy said that "Next time i come to Chicago you will be holding CD in your hand" or something like that... ?

I would rather save my money then go there and suffer through Tommy or Dizzys band of friends playing thier shity songs or Dizzy playing all cover tunes and then be told "soon" dont worry fans!!!

Dont worry fans soon is the word!! ?but they say publicly "Axl cares deeply for his fans" thats the biggest load of shit ever... "he cares sooo deeply that he doesnt speak to you" or "tell you anything coz the press cant ever get it right".. ?

One thing I will look forward to is the interviews with dizzy involving new gnr n the album.. Cheesy

Can I quote from his next interviews? He'll say 'it's coming, it'll be great, Axl's voice is wonderful, but I can't say more, because we want to keep things in secret'.

Someone please ask Tommy or Dizzy:

-when was the last time they met Axl?
-when was the last time the whole band met (and played together)?
-when did the finish their parts in the studio?

and of course all the usual questions about CD being finished, will be released, new guitar player etc.

Are you all finished with the piss-taking? Take a look at the top of the page : this is a thread about Dizzy's band's live schedule. If you're not interested in that, you have the right to remain silent. You should all know that by now.
