I think Axl needs other persons that "yes men" around him. He needs people to tell him the truth and stop sucking his dick just because he is Mister Rose himself. and that's what Matt did and that was great. Maybe he should have punched him, sometimes it can have good effects. Beeing a celebrity doesn't allow you to make everything you want and ternish the name of one of the greatest Rock band ever toward those who make you become famous and win money: THE FANS. Now Axl can release the greatest record of all time if he wants, he can write plenty of "november rain" or "estranged", the fact is that it will never be a Guns n' Roses record. Never ever. Once again it's nt a critic against the new bandmembers (as Brain said himself, only money makes sense to him, he doesn't give a flying shit about Guns n' Roses, money money money, he should have played in ABBA), but against Axl. He is not Guns n' Roses. Not alone. Guns n' Roses is a band. Not an individual runaway ego.

I remember seeing an interview with matt where he said that it wouldn't be the same seeing someone else playing drums while GN'R played SCOM. ?I thought that he specifically mentioned SCOM was rather bizarre since he wasn't in the bad when they recorded that song. ?The he talks about his rock star mansion but in another interview he said that he needed VR to start touring because he had no money. ?He is so profoundly full of crap it's hard to believe.

The story about the mansion takes place around 1997 (thats 6 years before VR, in case you need further claification).  And I dont recall him saying he had "no money," so feel free to post that quote up.  I read an interview where he said hes a working musician, he didnt want the new band to just be a hobby and wanted to get out there quickly.  It didnt translate as "no money" to me...and nowhere did he talk about losing his mansion.  But in the chance that he did, remember, 1997, 2003 - two different time periods.

That's a pretty funny exchange actually.  If Paul was really saying bad things about Slash, I would have done the same thing.  As much as I like Matt, he does many times show "how good he is," like mentioning his rock-star mansion and always trying to one-up everyone.  But he's a great drummer and a pretty nice guy for the most part.

Paul Huge...ahhh paul huge tobias.... I have always had a bad feeling about him. a sort of mini-mafia in the GN'R camp. the guy who would have loved to fill slash's shoes and be famous but whithout 1/10 of Slash's talent.

1995/1996 were very dark years in GN'R history... I remember internet didn't exist at the time so it was hard to get info, but I knew there were lots of troubles. To tell you the truth, I though it was totally over and forever.

Wow, Sorum's story is as self serving and egotisitical as some of you accuse axl to be.

Before you exalt Mr. Sorum for sustaining the moral high ground and backing up his friends, perhaps you should hear both sides of the debacle. From what i remember, Axl said that Matt went in with the attitude that he wanted to get fired, that he was looking for a fight. There is probably alot more to this than Mr. Sorum's account. Take it for what it's worth.

err.... what? I don't think so, it's hard to make a judgement based soley on Sympathy for the Devil and some boots, but Slash is in a league that very few can lay claim to - legendary guitar heroes ie: Page, Angus Young, Hendrix, Van Halen etc...
Huge appears to be a "yes-man" that Axl wanted and considering the other members wanted nothing to do with the guy, Im prepared to believe Slash, Matt etc.. on this one
