I've been lurking around for ages using a different nick but never posted. Anyway, I'm not 100% sure if this has been discussed yet or if it's totally off topic and pointless, but I guess I'm just curious about the human nature.   yes

Did Axl, Slash or any of the band members show any emotion, like shed a tear or get choked up during a song, or a speech (rant) or an interview? When was it?

Yeah, even on the bootlegs of that show, you can hear the emotion in the whole entire place. I can only imagine how Axl must've felt...

That could have been the start for something big for GNR. They are kinda like a plane that is having trouble getting off the ground.

the madagascar portion of the medley performed at the 2002 VMAs...
struck me as a very emotional performance
to me it seemed that Axl's voice actually trembled as he seemed overcome with emotions

what a beautiful performance it was
and what an emotional night it must have been for him

and he looked so happy sliding across the stage on the confetti!

hey... emotional performance doesn't necessarily mean sad emotion... can be happy emotion to

i know we've all seen Axl smile through his singing... i mean literally smiling as he delivers the vocals....
i love that

and not to go off topic...   because we are talking about emotional performances...

i love also Robin's emotiveness on stage
i've been lucky enough to look right up into his face from the front row and its was a beautiful experience...  i was so touched... he really reached down inside me... i felt him coming through the music...
*sigh*

i'm looking forward to CD yes definitely... most definitely
but what i crave is the live experience - to feel this band's energy live again

Axl was very emotional while singing a song I think was called "sail away sweet sister" on their last big tour in Tokyo"  I have the tape  UYI 1or2?  Don't watch them much anymore.  It's too sad. He is VERY MAD & SAD.

that's what bothers me sometimes about gnr performances.Besides anger,Axl didn't show that much of emotions when on stage.I think he was too preoccupied with giving a great show, but it would be nice to sometimes see him express on stage the type of feelings he had when recording songs like estranged or coma... I saw him performing estranged on tokio vids, but his heart just wasn't at the right place

PS-as much as kurt annoys me,the way he performed where did you sleep last night and few others on MTV unplugged really was from the heart
Tho most of his performances weren't emotional at all,but he did pull it that one time

I think that Axl shows emotions during the shows, and not only anger. Talkin' about the Tokyo dvd, you are right that Estranged is not the best, but he's really emotional in Don't Cry, for example. Or the 1989 AMAs show that I've just seen: the best Patience ever. Etc.

If you get a chance, listen to GnR's short version of Hair of the Dog from winnepeg 1988. Excellent cover, mostly due to Axl. He sounds like he's really pissed, ready to kick ass. A lot of emotion in his voice. "...time's come to pay your dues" ok

His comments at MSG in 02, when he talks about them (the NY fans) selling it out...on the bootleg he looked real emotional.

That is fucking awesome!!! I would have loved to have been there for a moment like that. Ya know you hold these guys in such high esteem (and don't worry I mean in the healthy sense) because you respect what they have done and their ability it's cool to hear a human side like that sometimes. And it's an awesome gesture by the people who were at the show. You never get to hear enough about moments like that yet you hear a billion times over about riots and chants for slash at GnR shows and Axl chants at VR shows.

Yeah Robin rocks out.  Did you happen to be the Dec. 29 Vegas show in front of Robin.  I remember talking to a woman about GN'R and Robin quite a bit that night.  Axl did cry at the end of RIRIII right before he said he'd be back with a bunch of new songs the following summer.

Cheesy I was at the dec 29 and nye vegas shows... i was front and center (so not in front of Robin all night) but was very pleased that robin came to the center of the stage at times...? i'll never forget looking up into his face as he played and just being reduced to tears by the beautyand power of his performance? love
hehe
