R.I.P. Dimebag 1966-2004

« on: December 12, 2004, 02:24:50 PM »

Hey, Peeps.

It's time for a thread of the greatest backing vocalists.

Which band members do you think are the greatest backing vocalists and have the best stage presence when performing live?

Off the top of my head, Jason Newsted (ex-Metallica bassist) was beastly when performing live, much better than Rob and Kirk put together. On Headbangers Ball they showed him singing Whiplash by himself, and he really got the crowd going. Watch S & M or Live Sh*t and you'll see more.

Dregen, lead guitarist of Backyard Babies.

He?s amazing on stage. Always so full of energy and he is such a visual performer. I?ve seen him live four times and he never seems to stop for nothing, only when it?s his time to sing he might stay still for a little longer. He also does the lead vocals in few songs.

no backup singer is as important as richie sambora

whether u hate bon jovi or whatever richie is the best by far.

there are plenty of instances where is backup vocals have defined and made the song, other backup vocalist provide important vocals but the song wouldnt change much without them or if someone else was doin em

u take richie's backup voice away, bon jovi songs arent anywhere near the same or as good.

I totally agree..Richie makes all the songs sound perfect..If it wasnt for him they just wouldnt sound right..Most notably on Wanted Dead Or Alive...Richie is half the reason i like Bon Jovi live so much..And as for AC/DC comment..Well there great and have always been

Sambora, frusciante, and cantrell def came to mind frist when I saw the thread. Some guys just have perfect voices for backing vocals based on who the lead singer is. Newsted comes to mind with that, Joe Perry I am not a fan of his voice singing on his onw but when him and tyler are singing together it sounds awesome.

Uhm, mine is Izzy.

Seriously, why hasn't anybody named him? His voice is awesome, loved him on 14 years, no one could have sung that song better than him.

I totally agree with Richie Sambora. He IS the best backing singer.I also agree with Jerry Cantrell. And I also love lots of the backing vocals Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars do on Motley Crue, they just rock!!!On "If I die tomorrow", during the chorus, Nikki does some awsome job!
