Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« on: December 11, 2004, 08:35:26 AM »

I saw Slash with VR but I've never seen Axl. Slash was GREAT, and when I see my GN'R live videos, I think Axl "in real" could also be phenomenal on stage. So for those who saw Axl and Slash, who is the most impressive one on stage? (energy, charisma, stage presence etc...)

If you're asking who has the most charisma and energy on stage, there's a reason why Axl has been called the greatest rock frontman of all time.  He is the epitomy of stage presence.

Exactly, I don't even see any competition here.

Why should we choose? Axl is definately one of the biggest frontmen ever, maybe the biggest one. And Slash is surely the greatest guitarist frontman of all time. They both did their best and Slash still does.

Slash is the King

For a guitarist Slash definately is impressive. Usually most of the attention is focused on the singer but i find myself looking at Slash. The man jumps, runs and gets totally into his instrument. But Axl takes the cake because he's so good u can't take ur eyes off him most of the time.

I've seen Axl at Pukkelpop in 2002, and Slash a few weeks ago in MS. with VR. I was totally blown away by Axl and his performance. I think Slash's performance was good as well, but different, and I wasn't blown away but it could be related to several reasons. I think if I'd seen the band in 1991 (with Izzy, when they were still pretty tight and agressive), I would have said: draw. Even though like others said you can't really compare the two. It's like asking who had the more charisma between Robert Plant and Jimmy Page.

I've just watched the 1995 Video Music Awards (Slash + Mickael Jackson) and Slash is a fucking GENIUS! Shocked His is phenomenal. GN'R will never be the same without him, he is THE guitarist for this band.
If you haven't watched the 1995 VMA watch it. it's fantastic!

Axl is a ball of charisma, and slash, the amazing axeman that he is, is a little more conservative than Axl. So i would go with axl here.
