I'm listening to
Power Metal
for the first time now.. I don't think i would have guessed that it's the same band that recorded CFH, VDoP,FBD and the rest of the later albums if i didn't know it.. it's not all that bad but the latter records are so awesome it's sick

I wouldn't say the best, but it's definitely underrated. Has some amazing guitar work too, listen to the outro solo on Floods - awesome stuff!
Does anyone know what's happening with the stuff that Dime recorded for the second Damageplan album?

TGSTK is one of my favorite albums ever. I think it's their best effort and I'm a big fan.

its quite easy to see how Vinnie blames Phil.
But its also easy to see how it isnt Phils fault.

I've got the albums from
Cowboys...
through to
TGST
and from what I've listened to, TGST is probably my favourite. The title track is especially awesome.
I want to check out Reinventing The Steel some time too...

I made it a point to listen to Revolution is my Name on the way to my baseball games this season. Seemed to help for a while, haha.
Pantera could do no wrong in my eyes. Well maybe Metal Magic!
I can gig everything from Power Metal til the end, but Cowboys is my hands down favorite, with Vulgar being second.
Used to love FBD, but think I may have played it out. GST and RTS are solid albums, especially considering they came out at a time when all their peers were past their primes, putting out mostly uninspired material. They never stood still, or put out a by the numbers Pantera record. Musically, GST and RTS are great. Lyrically, they left a bit to be desired for me.

What the hell did you want them to write about? they all had millions of dollars and life was mostly good minus the back and heroin addiction for Phil. I think the topics on TGSTK are pretty darn good. RTS was a mess because they all hated Phil by that point.

I don't think the lyrics are bad, just not as strong as previous efforts, which is why I don't hold them in as high regard.
I still spin em pretty regularly. No different from any band. They all run out of interesting things to say eventually.
Though I think Phil's had some stronger moment's with Down, than he did with Pantera towards the end.
