One in a Million

At VH1.com, the Guns N' Roses board is their #1 message board.  They have a list of the top bands, artists, etc in many categories.  Just wanted to spread the word.  GNR on top of discussions.   peace

this is a sign of popularity. To tell you the truth, the "internet popularity" is very often a sign of the popularity of a band/artist. I'm sure that if the official GN'R website had a forum, it would be the biggest musical forum on the web for a Rock band with thousands members. More generally, I'm surprised by the GN'R boards popularity and boardmembers number compared to any other bands website/forum on the internet.
- over 4400 members here
- over 6200 members on mygnrforum
- over 1000 members on many many other GN'R forums on the web
---> and they are all unofficial boards.
Imagine 1 forum on an GN'R official website, it would be a huge board. One of the most popular musical board on the internet for sure...

I think GN'R Behind the Music helped that quite a bit.  A great show for a non-fan to learn about GN'R and what's going on with them.

I had belonged tot eh vh1 board before any others,I started there in 2001-2..It was a page of about 15-20 posters with about 50 or so topics, then teh vmas n the board wars started.. The board quickly jumped to 365 topics..

It's both an interest in guns, and the idea so much with vr and old gnr has been all over vh1 of late.. It's number one either way though..

Also, I think that the commercials for Grand Theft Auto?playing a killer AFD version of "WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE" with killer captions and scenery from the game helped as well. THey have that commercial runnning all ?the time now and its very captivating, even for a person like me who lives with WTTJ almost every day in my discman.
Its promotion like that that actually won me over when back in 1998 they played "KOHD" during MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch. Us fans know the reality about how hard it is for GNR to come together and promote their old material and when they do, its really a thing of awe like the good old days. THis , the greatest hits, and the popularity of VR have helped the public wipe away the bad taste of nu-GNR from a few years back, and this could even help setup Axl for a second (and hopefully more successful) comeback.
I would bet that that commercial alone has spawned a whole new generation of GNR fans who will eventually catch on to all of their music just as we have!!!

Indeed, I wonder what's going to happen when Chinese Democracy will be released...

Another reason I believe the Internet and GN'R are closely connected is because the internet is the only way for the fans to hear news about their band and also the right place for trading bootlegs.

vh1 boards are filled with haters, don't ever take the sites to seriously, whenever a band has a wave of anything dicks come there, just like blabbermouth or metal sludge, people are cruel//..

When cd hits the board will be hit like no tomorrow, but it will be alot of bullshit..

Did n't think there was much point starting a new thread for this but on 'VH2', the sister channel for VH1 today they had 1980-2004 Icons and for each year they played a song by a band representing the icons, Radiohead for '93, Stone Roses for '90 Pulp for '95 i think....well anyway for '87 it was Guns N' Roses just thought it was cool that they recognised them as the icons for that year, they played Welcome To The Jungle btw.

Yeah, that was the year that everyone was sick of me playing AFD over and over and over... hihi hihi

In any case, it's really cool that they are #1 - I'm sure that many are curious over VR at this point.
