Tiny Music is generally considered the worst album by STP fans..except for 3 or 4 songs the album is pretty weak.
Core is the most mainstreem liked (easily their most famious), but it seems that STP fans consider Purple to be their "holy grail".
I'm a huge STP fan (of course no one can compair to Gn'R) so I was psyched when I heard about VR, but I didn't think they'd come close to being this good. It's amazing how they meshed their seprate styles so well. VR is much harder than STP ever was.
anyways the order you should buy STP's albums is...
Purple
Core
No. 4
Shangrala-de-da
Tiny Music

I don't give a shit what they consider it,
Tiny Music
is underrated and was one of their most diverse and risk-taking albums. The fact that it sounds nothing like what they had done before is what you call evolving, which is what you call a good thing.

I live in Belgium and STP were pretty huge over here too, I remember watching Creep and Mtv unplugged millions of times.
They were popular with "Core", but after that they disappeared.
MTV seemed to lump them together with those "grunge" bands and played their videos in the early 90s.

nah, Big Bang baby got a lot of airplay as well.
I like STP better than VR, scott doesnt look like Scott Anymore, the good lyrics are still there but a bit of sensibility is gone, and replaced by Gnr fuelled anger that doesnt fit him too well In my opinion.

I thought their last 2 albums 'No. 4' and 'Shangra la de da' were under-rated. Both very strong albums

In the spirit of comparing Scott then and now I was listening to Core and he really had a voice back then. I still dig his VR work but alot more range back in the day. And he looks like an entirely different person. Maybe it's the extra weight, goatee, and hair styles but I mean you could really make a strong case that the real Scott Weiland disappeared at some point in the nineties and was replaced by a really good impersonator. Like Elvis in that movie "Bubba Ho Tep".....I need to lay off the bruce campbell flicks.
