awesome interview!!
i totally understand Scott being frustrated with Matt's groupie addiction, what will the wives think when they see shit like that? plus its tempation for the other members.
of course i dont really like Matt, he is a good drummer but every since the GNR behind the music he will forever be a tool in my eyes.

Best interview with the Velvets I've seen yet.
I hope that that tension between Matt and Scott isn't a typical thing. It's things like that that can fester and destroy a band - note GnR.
I gotta say, though, Duff looks pretty bad in that first photo...lol

SHows soem danger within the band.
I think matt n scott need to chill, I sence jealousy to a popint with scott towards matt.. If it was ten years ago they would all be loving the groupies, matt's single and not doing drugs, he loves to get laid,. more power to him..
ANyways these are wives of rockstars, they should be able to see this stuff and brush it off..
The slash bar story is cool..

That's what I was thinking--the guy looks like a fucking drag queen.
Seems to me that there's some serious clashing of the egos in Velvet. Pray to the gods that it won't become their downfall like with Guns.
And Weiland calling his wife "a beautiful pit bull"--no wonder she left him.

The thing that strikes me about this interview is that it rerally shows some insight to the life on the road and the relationship between the members of the band. I love it !!

Duff looks like Keith Richards in that pic.
That isn't a compliment.

Great article, thanks for posting.
I'm with Matt on this one, Scott's political views should have been kept off the official group website or at least a disclaimer should have been used.
Just my opinion.

Am I the only one who thinks it's like Matt is from the 80s scene and Scott from the 90s?
I'm talking about the girls backstage thing.
Everybody who remembers the 80s knows what the videos looked like, then came the 90s and the bands who were against that. Now it seems like Matt is representing the 80s and Scott the 90s.

To a degree, yes. Although I think it's more of a "single" thing for Sorum and a "married" thing for Weiland.
Go backstage at about any show and there's always going to be the groupie element and guys in bands who take full advantage of it.

Can't comment since I've never been there.
But it just seemed like many of the "alternative" bands were against that groupie thing.

That's an interesting way to look at it, but I think it has more to do with Scott trying to clean up his act and become more responsible while Matt is the irresponsible one.

i guess it could be a drag to be the only single guy in the band and have to hang around and not do shit.
still i think matt needs to realize that he is a drummer and not a front man, that person said it was like havin two frontmen. Maybe matt should have a section far away from the band and do that
tempation sucks and i guess scott views that as disrespectful since he is tryin to stay clean and matt is projected the party lifetstyle
i know if i were on tour my woman wouldnt want any groupies around and thats very understandable.

My mail was just fowarded and I finally got my magazine.. It's so much beter to kick back adn read these things in your room or wherever you relax.. You don't go crazy analyzing everything or taking sides..
I like the end where they are alkl on the tour bus and then matt says that's our grandpa lead singer and they're all laughing about different stuff they like .. The interview showed me that they have their little problems like any family or group of guys but at the end of the day it's all good and they still get along..
I'm not trying to bring this thread or topic back to life, just saying it was a cool read in the magazine..

I wonder if Matt also has a problem with Duff wearing that "Kerry" t-shirt...

What disclaimer?? The guys each have a journal section, and it was very obvious that Scotts views were just that - Scotts views.? Nowhere, that I can recall, did Scott say "This is what the band feels" or "Im sure Matt would agree that..."? They were very clearly Scotts ideas and I see no problem with that.
However, I also dont see a problem with Matt doing the groupie thing, as long as its not directly affecting the others. And I would hope that none of the others would disagree with Matt posting about groupies, or drugs, or his dog dying, etc. The point of the journals, I believe, are for the members to express whatever they want. Therefore, Scott had every right to do what he did. And Matt should have the same right to clarify that he would rather not reveal his political views, or isnt political at all, or supports Bush.

I'm just not a fan of celebrities using their status as a pulpit to spread their political views, journal entry or not. For me personally, it's off putting.
It's hardly Weiland specific, I could care less about what Kid Rock thinks about George W Bush or what Michael Stipe has to say about John Kerry.
