Why are VR so obsessed with Axl?? I dont think he gives a shit about them.  Between the shit with Duff saying Axl didnt write songs then taking it back... and then this?  They should move on and get over it.  They all know Scott doesnt compare to Axl and that's why they keep talkin shit.  I think we should all move on.  VR is a new band.  Maybe CD will come out.  Like Axl said... if it were never to happen... we would not have missed a thing.

i think it was cool , no big deal

now had Scott dressed up and made fun of axl's supposed weight problem and his supposed hair problem that wouldve been wrong

but he looked like a kick ass version axl, scott shouldnt throw anymore megaphones at crowds though for sayin anything about GNR though after this.

u have to embrace your past and i think this was a way of VR showing they have moved on to the point where they can satire it.

Some people need to lighten up and get a sense of humor, this isn't a life or death situation.  Funny stuff

I think it's a good bit of humour and a way for them to embrace what is totally inevitable given their history - they are also more than qualified to make comment about GN'R - past or present and are just poking a bit of fun at what is widely perceived to be a farcical situation

I think it was funny, nothing harmful.  People not up to date with GN'R thought buckethead was Slash, and the media saying Scott was trying to be Axl when VR got started, so it  was kind of fitting.  Great pic! Anyone know if they played the whole show dressed up?

Wonder what Axl thought of this?

Who cares? It was a silly Halloween dress-up.
Do you think Duff will get sh*t from Courtney Love or if Dave will get sh*t from the Devil from how they dressed???

LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!!!

I was just curious, so LIGHTEN UP!? Roll Eyes? Man, you guys wonder what Axl eats for breakfast, but I can't wonder what he thought of Scott dressing like him.?

anyway - I think it's cool as hell and wish I was there!? ok

Sorry dude, I meant no offence, it's just that some people on this board look way too deep into stuff that shouldn't be taken so seriously. Glad you can see the funny side to it.

GNR For Fucking Ever

« Reply #109 on: November 14, 2004, 07:45:32 AM »

I see what they are trying to do, they think maybe if scott dresses up like Axl he might come close to hitting the notes Axl does and have the stage presence/attitude Axl has and Slash thought that dressing up like buckethead might make him a faster better guitar player or maybe he thought he would be able to make Axl think he was buckethead and take him back.

GNR for fucking ever.

Like Axl said... if it were never to happen... we would not have missed a thing.?

I have to ask do you follow vr and their interviews outside of the typical posts made in the forums?
Well in the states there wasn't alot of interviews compared to europe in which they seemed to get interviewed everywhere they went.. Almost evry inmterview I read or watched they were asked about axl rose and if they still speak to him orwhat happened in gnr and all those good questions..

Now the idea is it's not like they just bring up axl out of the blue all the time, they are constantly asked questions about axl and the problems and if they listen to new gnr stuff and their feelings on these issues..

SO there is your answer to why do they mention axl, like they have nothing better to do then ask about some guy who hides forever..

As for the dressign up like axl n bh, who really cares ,do you think axl will lose sleep over this? I mean the whole world says he's fat, he's had plastic surgery his hair fell out, his lineup is  a joke, he can't sing anymore, the vmas sucked, two riots on tour, cancelled tour in a month, missing album forever.. etc etc Now that is what writers have said and little diggs from snl ,conan, and whoever else.. SO if axl doesn't respond to most of that stuff then what is the big deal about having a little fun for halloween, it wasn'tr done in a malicious way..

Just everyone lighten up and let something so simple slide.. There doesn't have to be more then meets the eye each time..

I bet axl looks and scott and wishes he could still fit in his old afd clothes.. hihi
Oh and when buckethead has such memorable music then we can comp[are him to slash.. One is a legend the other one is a unknown freakshow..

ALso why would anyone want to go back to axl rose, they already have 7 band members and can't get one album out.. rofl

Nobody finds the following things kinda funny?

- It's ok for them to dress up as Axl and BH, but they don't want to talk about GN'R in interviews.

- It's ok for them to play GN'R songs and use the same introductions GN'R had on the Use Your Illusion tour 11-13 years ago, but they're still a band with their own identity making it on their own?

I like the band, but I think they send mixed messages by the things they do. They say they're a new band with its own identity and then the next second they do something that's associated with GN'R.

I don't care about how they dress for Halloween. I wonder who's idea it was and if they all picked their costumes themselves.... Duff as Courtney Love, wonder where that came from.

not only a piss poor frontman but also a fuckin' hypocrite.

Odd that you would have this to say about an album featuring a "piss poor frontman" on 100% of its vocals..

Quote
After 5-6 listens i can say its the album of the year so far - the songs are excellent, and in concert...well they must be truly amazing

Quote
Contraband is a kickass album

Quote
Lol, read my review of Contraband

I gave it 8/10 - this is what i wrote

Damn this album

Each time i listen to it it seems to get so much better

Surely an absolute "piss poor frontman" would spoil an album beyond an "8/10" rating, right? ?Would that make you a "fuckin' hypocrite" too? ?Ive seen enough of your posts to know the answer to that.. ok

about  the guy who intoduces the band.. I thought it might be because the guys loved the earlier years of gnr the best and wanted thatt type of atmosphere, but I don't know the reasons..

As for the gnr songs ,I think they should do that either way, groups of that size and fame have a small obligation to give the fans a treat because they still love the old band's songs.. There's no escaping the gnr name, so why not give the fans a little treat that never got to hear to hear the old group live.. I know if I saw vr for the first time I would like to hear slash play a few tunes from the old days just for concerts.. They do the same for the stp fans..

I think they could do less gnr stuff, but I don't know what their reasons are..? Maybe they were pissed in the start because they kept getting gnr requests and being called ex gunners or a super group.. WHo knows..?

The main thing that's come out of this is the hypocrisy of Scott Weiland and his anti-GNR agenda.

You don't dare speak of GNR and its former lead singer at interviews but we're more than happy to make fun of them. I don't know what it is but Scott Weiland appears to be threatened by GNR's legacy, maybe its overshadowing his current band who's debut album is mediocre at best, nobody would be speaking of GNR if their album was good, instead they've gone platinum through hype alone centering mainly on the 3 ex gunners (which also has Scott pissed off).

Scott will tear this band apart and it won't be the drugs that do it either.
