« Reply #27 on: October 30, 2004, 12:10:43 AM »

Not very creative.

Its just a rip off of the Paul McCartney conspiracy. Infact the rumour is exactly the same in every detail, car crash surgery etc.

The problem with the Paul McCartney one, was that if they were gonna have to find a look a like, well first it has to look like him, be a musician, play bass, be left handed, and be one of the greatest song writers of all time. Tough call. Wink

Of course I didn't have to research to know Axl hasn't died in '96...do u think I'm that gullible and I heard about the new line-up yesterday? lol

My initial question was about the actual STORY about the alleged book/author/journalist, not the substance of it since we all know it's not true. If there is a story on that, I'm really curious to know who started it. But like we all supposed since the thread has started, the article itself surely doesn't exist and this is gonna be a buh-bye for our rumor-starting friend.

that wasnt directed at you Will, some peoples posts are as if they actually pondered on that really being true and it intrigued me how anyone could even entertain the possibility of that being true.

That's cool...but I think pretty much everyone took it as a joke/ bullshit rumor, right? As far as I'm concerned, an eventual news piece about the book/author might have been worthy to me but like I said it's probably gonna be a buh-bye thread to the person who started it.

Now you mention it, the Axl that appeared at the London Arena gig in 2002 looked smaller than the Axl that appeared at The National Bowl gig back in 1993? Wink

...it was some short bloke running around the stage, maybe it had something to do with the fact Buckethead is very tall? Grin

Probably goes some way to explaining why OMG sounds as if it was made on a computer  Wink

There is another thing which is unbelievable : you are threatening me just for repeating something I've heard on the radio !? rant

Here is some more information : the author of the essay may be Gilles Tordjman. His book is based on situationist Guy Debord's "The Society of Spectacle" which is a 1967' critical essay about modern civilization. The "Axl's case" would only be a small part of Tordjman's book, if I understood well. The main themes of the book are "doubles, manipulation and myths in contemporary society of spectacle."

Another example is Madonna and Michael Jackson using doubles in several shows (although they're not dead). peace

For more information take a look at "Axl Rose may have died 8 years ago" thread.

weird ... he used to write in a magazine called "The inrockuptibles".

And I read Guy Debord's "The Society of Spectacle" while at university and it wasn't actually a fun read ... interesting but not fun ...

I tried google with both names and Tordjman wrote an article about Debord... http://library.nothingness.org/articles/SI/fr/display/74 ... well it's in french and even for us it's pretty heavy !  Grin

Where have you heard about Gilles Tordjman's book ? It can only be a kind of hyperbole on our modern society ...  Roll Eyes

That's the information you should have given in the first place. I couldn't find any info on a new Tordjman book, in the french or international media.
