Doesn't most fans feel how we do in regards to big come backs?

I'm sure every fan forum from motley crue to van halen to judas priest and anyone else that has ever broken up feels their band will go back to their days of glory adn rule the charts again.. My question is why should new gnr be viewed any different? What will make this badn be dominating where the others couldn't??

You don't have to tell me how big the old gnr was and all the basics because that's a given.. Listen I also know the tour sold pretty good considering.. ALot of old groups pound out great arena/and smaller venue gigs, but their record slaes drop...

WHy will this record be different? then others..?

I'm not even going to mention the years it's been and the different lineup..

Well there's no guarantee that it'll be a success.

But there still seems to be an interest in GN'R records and even Axl.

I know we'll get people saying "yeah, interest in the old band", but the new fans who are interested in the old band might be interested in Axl's new band as well.

I agree there is definetly interest in axl, and GH has sold quite well.. I don't know if it's because people wanted that type of album for their collection, or the idea the new group opened afew sleeping eyes..?

I have seen how vh1 did a few things like a2z, btm, that cartoon with bucket n axl at mcdonalds, the time machine commercial for the new album etc..

I know their is a special something about the mystique of axl rose, but it's more to the people that already know him.. This is what (besides the great works) that keeps us interested..

Hell even how well VR has been taken so far shows the interest in gnr, well the old guys at least..

This was just a topic to hear some reasons people felt in comparison with other bands who have tried similar things..

I guess the differance for me is that Axl has a genuine interest in more modern and expeimental sounds compared to those bands, plus Axl,s lyrics are much more heartfelt and soulfull than VH, Motley, and Judas all of whom dated much worse than GNR .
Style changes, but if what you are delivering has substance it'll never completely go out of fashion.....say early u2, Johny cash etc.

Either way without that there wouldn't be us, the fans who have been here since then and fell in love with gnr because of them.. I wouldn't even know this group without teh old.. It's definetly a good thing to have for the initial launch, then we can see how newer people respond and those who have been snoozing since 93..

I understand to a point, but I wouldn't say vh is dated, well not all their music.. Tons of their music is still played all over the USA on classic rock stations.. They must have a good ten songs in rotation..

The idea was a double cd of vh's greatest hits only sonld 163,000 it's first week then slowly fell off.. REM just sold like 60k in their first week..  Van halen had millions of fans, they did huge arena tours, but those people aren't still buying their music, times change...

unlike Motley crue van halen etc, GNR achieved world domination. They were like Michael Jackson, they were known all over the world.

I live in belgium and untill a few years ago I had never heard of  Motley Crue or Van Halen , I think Ive seen one video by Van Halen in my entire life and Ive never seen one by Motley Crue...Whereas I remember watching all of GNR hit videos hundreds of times when I was growing up .

+ GNR is cool as hell and van halen and Motley crue are cheesy crap.

That's because van halen hasn't doine anything in years, their big days with their lead singer ended after the album 1984.. Eddie van halen is recognized by alot of people as one of the best guitarists.. Motley crue was huge from 82 to about 92, after that vince left.. They has some solidrocking tunes, they were ahead of most of the 80's bands in glam, they just got pushed into that ;label because eevryone was doing it..

Hey even metallica had world domination for a while.. When gnr n metallica toured it was named the best tour ever???
All I'm saying is everyone infan forums believe that their band will have asecond coming and be the best again, and for the most part it doesn't happen (aerosmith had a great comeback).. Aerosmith's music fit the 1980's perfectly thoug, permanet vacation, Pump, duet with run dmc.. I think Get a grip was killer on it's own, living on the edge, crying,. crazy, etc..

Alot of reasons you haven't heard these bands in other countries is because their reign is over and it has been for a decade.. Also they were just example..

There's alot of people outside of us that hate n dislike axl and his voice, I see it on other none music forums.. Some who call MC n VH cheesy might feel the same about gnr..

Axl has just gone into hiding. He vanished when he was at the top. Plus, new gnr are not going to be making material and a comeback soley for their old fans. Its not going to be classic gnr stuff. Its going to be like a new band with an old name. A band that has made music to appeal to everyone not just the peopel of the past. To me that steh biggest difference. Whther you think they are capable of making music that is appealing to kids today, etc is for another debate but that sthe goal.

Youngguner what is music for younger people not just the old fans?? Do you mean industrial, or experimetal type sounding stuff ,sound effects?
