yeah i also agree with radiohead and nine inch nails, never understood their appeal.

Bon Jovi and Prince arent for everyone

Purple Rain came on today and i watched Let's Go Crazy and just thinking that one man wrote and played all of that is mind blowing.

how many people are a great pianist, bass player, singer, lyricist, producer, songwriter,

who can be not only one of the greatest front men but also one of the greatest guitarist

what makes Prince great is he is great at various styles, whether it be rock, funk,R and B,Jazz, blues, he touches base on all styles and does them all well. there are artists that may do a certain style a bit better than Prince but his overall prolificness and ability to do every style and own that style makes him soooooo amazingly great!

Ive never heard a single bon jovi song that i didnt love, Bon Jovi and GNR are the only two bands that i love every single piece of music they've done.

All you Radiohead haters I hope you burn in hell!!!

I can't believe how some of you dislike that band. They made two of the finest records to come out in the 90's. They are incredibly talented.

I can't get into Led Zeppeling. I have their box set, the entire collection, but out of the 80+ songs, I like 10. I've tried, but I just can't.

The Chemical Brothers. When they became sort of big, I started to pay some attention to electronica but not much of a fan. They have won numerous awards, but find their music boring.

Pink Floyd's " dark side.." that's supposed to be their best work to date, but quite frankly, I dig the Wall much more.

The Magnetic Fields " 69 love songs" The guy maye one of the most talented poets in America today, also I give him a lot of credit to write 69 love songs, but the album is the prefect choice to take a nap.

The Smiths. I just hate Morrisay with a passion. I can't stand his voice...

OMG... I cant believe that many people listed U2 and The Stons, two of my favorite bands along with GNR. It took a time to get into the Stones for me,  but once you get hooked, you just cant get enough. For you that dont know the band, just download the song Gimme Shelter, its simply the best song ever. As for U2, theyre my favorite at the moment. The sound textures The Edge create just takes you away you know. And that song... One. What a fucking wonderful piece of art.  I strongly recommend the live Slane Castle DVD, its AWESOME. Bono can get a crowd going like noone, maybe Mick Jagger and Axl Rose.

This is for D....Prince and Bon Jovi, not once have they ever done anything which has seemed the least bit cool or even interesting to me.

Hah, there's nothing cooler than 'Darling Nikki' by Prince Smiley That guy is the epitome of everything cool - or at least used to be in the 80s.

Not gonna defend Bon Jovi though, even though I have their greatest hits album from '94 hidden somewhere at my mom's house Tongue

For me U2 is the most boring music of all time. Sorry.

Prince - I like Purple Rain a lot, but that's all. I don't like his music. Sorry.

Pink Floyd - now I've been fighting for them  Smiley I try to understand what's so good in their music, I bought Echoes, their best of, I like some tracks, but not the majority of the songs.

Nirvana - I only like Rape me and Heart-shaped box. I think they were making the same song with different titles.

You mentioned other bands, but - although I don't like or dislike some of them - I don't list them, Cause I don't consider these bands 'classics'.

The problem is probably buying a compilation for a band like Floyd.  They're very much an album oriented group.  Meaning, they didn't pump out a slew of singles or stand alone tracks.  Instead their genious is presented in album format.  Take a listen to Animals, Meddle or Wish You were Here in their entirety.  These albums take you on a journey.  They totally encompass you and go in so many different directions musically (very much like Radiohead!).  That being said, Floyd is not for everyone, but i think their relevance can in no way be disputed (very much like Radiohead!).

Radiohead - The Bends and OK Computer are great, agreed.  The rest sucks ass though, I've got Hail to the Theif and I wanted to like it, but it stinks.

The Chemical Brothers - Agree with you there.  But was any dance music ever good?!  Very rarely.

Pink Flloyd - are genious, The Wall is their best.

The Smiths - are fucking quality, Morrissey's voice is very unique.

Thanks for the advice, I'll gime them a second chance with a full album.  ok

Try to get some live shows of them. Their albums sometimes are too polished, but their concerts beat everything. Zepp is one of the greatest live bands of all time.  yes

Except they have a tendency to get a bit too self-indulgent for my tastes.  A 20-minute drum solo?  Good God.  nervous

But there is (was) a difference between Matt's and Bonham's playin'  yes Anyway, you can skip the drum solo (Moby Dick).

I truly cannot stand Pink Floyd and Rush.

Radiohead sucks as well, save two songs. "Creep" and "Street Spirit (Fade Out)". However, The Darkness' cover of "Street Spirit" blows the original out of the water!
