Thanks.  Going by this version you sent me to, I think these lines are werid...I'm not saying they are wrong, I'm just not convinced!

I searched and found the ways you used to lure me in

Free the ball and chain*

We end together, ooh oh / We held together

I won't be told anymore

That I've been brought down in this storm And left so far out from the shore That I can't find my way back My way anymore
No, I won't be told anymore That I've been brought down in this storm And left so far out from the shore That I can't find my way back My way anymore

No I...I

Forgive them that tear down my soul And bless them that they might grow old And free them so that they may know That it's never too late
Oh the many times What seem like a memory I've searched and found the ways you use to lure me in I've found the ways, oh why it had to be Mired in denial, and so afraid If we ever find it true That we had the strength to choose I'm free of all these chains We held together

(solo, quotes - read below -)

I won't be told anymore That I've been brought down in this storm And left so far out from the shore That I can't find my way back My way anymore
No, I won't be told anymore That I've been brought down in this storm And left so far out from the shore That I can't find my way back My way anymore

I maintain it's "Freed of all the chains". If you listen to the backing vocals reprise of the phrase at the end of the song, that sounds like what they're singing.

I don't know if this applies to the song in question, but sometimes Axl changes the lyrics to the songs or just sings the "wrong" word.

It might be a good idea if you all listened to the same version from the same show. Wink

I'm going by the Cleveland '02 performance.   Though I've been listening to the MTV (at least the half that I have)  Leeds '02 and Rio etc.

They're all the tits, but the Cleveland one does it for me cos the performance seems better and I think Axl's singing is much better on this one - more confident and in tune...

Damn!, I never really realized how deep those lyrics are. I always sing along to it, but when you actually read the lines its pretty deep.

I think that pretty much goes for all the lyrics Axl has written...He writes from the heart, where as most bands today write miserable/angry lyrics because in's considered cool - that's why many bands don't pull it off, they're writing those lyrics for the wrong reasons.
