We all know that the Nu-GN'R members are hired musicians who have contracts. When Josh Freese's contract expired, he left. When will the others' contracts expire? I'm sure that they are forced not to leave GN'R during their contracts, but after that? Another guys will go and it'll 'give' GN'R 'the opportunity to take our recording that one extra step further' again?  Undecided

Josh left because nothing was happening, not just cuz' of his contract.

And I personally think that Richard, Tommy, Dizzy, are all in it for the long haul. Bucket and Brain, maybe not.

I know you're unwilling to accept the fact that this is a band that Axl put together for more reasons than being his tool, but maybe you should read some of tommy's interviews and how much he supports Axl and what they are doing.

I think Josh left because Axl didn't release the album that was 'ready' and Freese's contract expired so he could have gone. I'd be happy if Axl were able to release a record and I'm just curious to know what 'unexpected' and 'sudden' things can happen in the future.

Why do you act like this is something new?

Didn't Gilby's cheques stop coming and he realized he had been fired? That was in the mid-90s.

He basically said here is the songs learn them and play and here's the money according to behind the music.. He was put there to keep gnr going.. I see your point, but it was a little different, izzy left the band in a bad spot with a huge album/s out and a massive tour..

I was thinking of the new guys like axl picked a new afd lineup and they were more of a group then just hired to help axl continue...  He should have definetly picked memebers that would be like an entire new group before starting anything..  You're onyl looking for problems if the band members keep chaning before you release anything..

Josh Freese was mentioned. I guess he decided he'd rather start A Perfect Circle than wait for GN'R to start touring.

Then there's a guy like Tommy who has stayed for years.

for me a "real" band is a band without contracts. Just a bunch of friends. are there "contracts" in the rolling stones or aerosmith??  Huh I've never understood this "contract" thing in GN'R.

Surely, there has to be contracts.

If you are in a band from the start and it becomes successful, then the members become partners in a business sense.

If you are Axl who has all his legal/business involvement in GNR, an already successful business entity, you can't have other people join the band without having contracts.

It's the only way that the members can get their fair share of money. They'll have their share from proceeds from the record, but what about the rest? The contract means they get the money they deserve for touring, promoting the GNR name, etc.

Besides which, can someone tell me where it says that having a contract means you are specifically being payed for being in the studio like a session musician?

NEW MEMBERS HAVE TO HAVE CONTRACTS, IT IS UNAVOIDABLE!  rant

P.S. This is not directed just at you Nesquick.  Wink
