my father went to school at jefferson high school with izzy and axl and axlwas on his track team in the track records they list axl's name as "axle rose" so he must of had the nickname in high school my dads friend got in an arguement with axl about something track related and it erupted into a fight and he beat up axl my dad was invited to izzy's party because he was freinds with his cousin but he was kicked out of izzy's party cause he went to the "hillbilly" school because this was after izzy had transfered from jefferson to the neighboring school in the yearbook there is a picture of axl in choir singing this is semi-interesting there is a quote for like the language club in the year book which says "it's all greek to me" i thought that was pretty funny, i think i am forgetting a few stories so perhaps if i remember some more or my dad tells me ill post them  |

Bullcrap!!!! The school didn't list him as Axl. You and or your dad is lying!!! But Yes, if you go threw the year books you will find pics of Axl. He did go to the school after all! i'm not saying your dad didn't go to school with him, just that your wrong about the name. Go ahead and prove me wrong, by posting a scan of the book. And I will say my apologies!

no im not lying i know ive made some stupid posts but thats jsut cause me and my freinds like to mess around sometimes on the internet..the main reason i got into gnr was cause paradise city came on the radio and my dad told me he went to school with some guys in that band so i checked them out. i jsut got back from my grandma's who still lives in lafayette i just about brought home the yearbook that the pictures are in so i could scan them as proof and i can grab it next time i go but i forgot when we were loading up. BUT i can scan the track records if you guys want that list his name as "AXLE ROSE" my guess is he wanted them to put down a nickname that he had come up with...yes they yearbook lists him as willam bailey....theres 2 pictures of him in the yearbook....his school picture and one where he is sitting in choir....izzy also has 2 pictures one is of his school picture and one is one of him in some kind of art class....another thing thats interesting is my grandma told me when izzy and axl used to come home for the holidays or whatever reason the radio stations would pay money for people to bring one of them in for an interview.I'll make it a point tomorrow to scan the track records cause its too late know because i'll have to scan them at my freinds house because i don't have a scanner.

just to make it double clear i was talking about the track records calling him "axle rose" not the actaul school yearbook...im assuming they let him mark down a nickname....the track records are seperate from the yearbook they are papers in my basement my dad kept from his high school track they recieved and the end of the season however i did forget the actual yearbook but ill get it next time i vistit my grandma |

sorry about the 3 posts in a row but i just found the papers in my basement and they actually list axl as Bill Bailey (axel) 75-77 and my dad wasnt on his high school track team he started in 78 but he was on his middle school track team.....and i forgot another little tidbit thats funny, my uncle knew axl a bit bit bette cause he was older then my dad and was in the same grade as axl and he said he used to get picked on somewhat because he told someone he wanted to be famous and he was going to make it out to hollywood by saving up money for bus tolls..and he would hitchhike some of the ways and he would bring his skateboard along to skate the rest of the ways....theres a bunch of other papers along with the track papers and it looks like theres few yearbooks so ill check it out and post pictures of all i can find tomorrow seeing as its a school night and ive got some homework

sorry dudes im lazy and i dont have a scanner but ill make it over to my freinds house today hopefully, but the only thing is the rest of the papers in there were yearbooks from college and other college things so the only thing i have on me are the track records but once i go down to visit my g-ma i can get the yearbook also. I'll try to see if theres anything else high-school related
