Here Today...

« on: October 18, 2004, 01:32:02 PM »

Hey

I know this has been speculated loads of time before and the below quote could be about lots of people but i'm really bored so...

U2 have just announced they won't be headlining glastonbury next year, but the guy who runs it says he still looking for a massive act to headline. Here's what he said

Eavis said: "We know who we want the three headliners to be, but I can?t tell you who! What I will tell you is that we have sent someone out to the States this week to pursue an artist we want. Yes, they are American and yes, they are of superstar proportions. That?s all I can say!"

Glastonbury 2005 will take place on the weekend of June 24-26, license permitting.

Sounds like it could be GnR but then again it might not.

I didn't think Glastonbury was really the right place for GN'R, Reading is more GN'R? beer

He could be talking about any one of twenty bands.  Are we going to get our hopes up about every forthcoming major music festival? confused

Really hope it is not Guns or VR, this is so the wrong festival for either of them. Not many heavy rock bands play there, U2, REM, Strokes, that type of stuff. Just my opinion but i think it would be a mistake for either band to play at Glastonbury.

Glastonbury is indie.  GN'R will never play there.

I'd love for them to play glastonbury! I go every year. They arent strictly indie, they pull in a wide varierty of genres. They do tend to have a rockier band on the bill each year - Muse for example, the darkness, reef, hell nine inch nails played, the list goes on...

Paul McCartney last year :-)

Gn'R are not the type of band that Glastonbury goes after, if this is true i will be incredibly surprised. Glasto is far more indy based and i think that the target glasto audience would feel alienated if Gn'R were to play.

GNR at Glastonbury? Nah - its not that kind of festival, and i wouldn't get any hopes up with such a vague statement, but i suppose we can only hope...
