Prince Debuts New Song

Prince has put a new song out for the fans.


‘Cause and Effect’ debuted a radio station Current 89.3 in Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis this week after the singer gave the song to the station for a world premiere.

meh, throw away track by his standards. I find his work from 2000 onwards is always hit n miss.

Yeah, I thought the song was awful in parts, and pretty good in others.  Had an early 90's Prince feel at times.  But overall, I wasn't too moved by the song.

i disagree, hes done plenty of great albums solo too.

Most people don't know shit

Even when he had the "Revolution" prince still wrote and recorded most of the albums by himself. they were more of a touring band

contrary to the movie, WEndy and Lisa did not write Purple Rain

Taffy has had a rough couple weeks on the legal front.  He got sued for canceling a gig in Ireland and settled, the youtube video of a baby dancing to Lets Go Crazy can be legally posted again, and the lawsuit from the 3121 perfume company can proceed.

I like Prince when he is pissed, some good guitar driven songs songs usually come as a result.

  Prince's next album, twentyten, will be released in the UK next saturday, free with the free with the Daily Mirror

He's also signed a similar deal with a German and a Belgian newspaper. No word on a US release, but there are rumours that he has been seen sniffing around Warner Brothers again (you know, his former 'slavemasters'...)

Prince going back to Warner Bros isn't the same thing

he was a slave cause they controlled everything. the songs on the album, what he could release when he could release it etc.

they also owned all his master recordings etc


now, when he does deals, they distribute it but he retains all rights to the masters and can do what he wants.

I think my brain would spontaneously combust if i ever heard those two on CD together. that much awesomeness is just impossible to put on one track.

Someone should tell Prince, since all he seems to do is self produce now.

That too much compression on everything makes it sound flat, especially vocals.

Also dont make it so bass heavy, bit more treble please. Even EQ'in myself cant get rid of how bassy his vocals can be sometimes.

I'm slowly getting into Prince. I've heard little bits of Around The World In A Day, which I wanna check out.

i lisened to 3121 just now and the production compared to 2010's is a million times better..

does sound kind of generic production wise which is weird.

Just listened to 20ten for the first time. S'alright I suppose. But although I accept that Prince is past his peak, I expected more from him

Future Soul Song and Sticky Like Glue are cool, the rest seems a little half assed, almost like second rate re-hashes of his classic material.

D and Mrlee: I agree that the production isn't too hot on this one. . I like some of the sonic throwbacks to the Controversy/1999 (like the Linn drums thwacks and the chanted chorusses). But the appeal of Early 80's prince was the raw, direct sound. For me, most of the songs on '20ten' are overburdened with too many effects and sounds. Takes away some of the impact.

Overall, not bad for a newspapaer freebie.
