hey D

a while ago you put Gold in your list of favorite Prince guitar solos.

My dad has The Gold Experience CD so i eventually got around to giving the album a listen.

Minus the first track, Pussy Control which is absolutely STUPID. The album may just end up being one of my favoriote Prince albums.

Its a very rock orientated album from him, even the drumming on most songs avoids the drum machine sound and has a more live drum sound, the drumming reminds me of Hendrix's Drumming style from Mitch Mitchel. Lots of guitar solos on the album AND they were upfront which was great.

Now for the track Gold, i listened to that song n then repeatedly listened to it another 3 times, its SUCH a great song and yes the guitar solo is great, it hits in at the time right time n it was amazing. The song sounded strangely familar but i didnt know why, anyways, i asked my dad about it and quoted the main lyrics (he hasnt listened to it since like it came out in 1995) and as soon as i said the lyrics he knew what it was n said he used to play it alot so. Im guessing i probably heard it when i was little just didnt know who it was by.

I think its funny theres always been an under-current of Prince in my upbringing lmao, when i still was unborn and inside, i was present at a Prince live show hahahaha

Gold Experience in my opinion is the third greatest Prince album ever

1. Purple Rain of course *It isnt my favorite now but u cant deny it
2. Emancipation
3. Gold Experience

Shhh,Dolphin,Most Beautiful Girl in the world, Shy, I Hate U, and Gold are fucking classics. Its a shame Warner Bros didnt really push this album as it was one of his best.

If anyone hasnt heard Gold and wants to, Tell me and Ill put it on a YouSendIt file and let u download it.

When u listen, just remember that Prince plays EVERY instrument.

Some people don?t seem to recognize that Prince is a very very very gifted musician....he can totally play guitar and what he does with his voice is just amusing. I?m a total rocker but I have tons of respect for the man.

Yeah, people don't understand that this guy  is the greatest musician by far of his generation and of the last 75 years.

he arranges, composes and plays every single instrument. he also has always been his own producer.

the prolific songwriting, change in styles are unmatched.

There are better singers, better guitar players, better piano players BUT  no individual can do all combined anywhere near Prince's level.

Yes.  It is on the album Around the World in a Day, one of my favorites.

I live in MN so I have been lucky when Prince would play all of those shows at Paisley Park.  I have seen him over 30 times live there, most of the times it was free.

i like alot of his albums.

but for some reason, i dont think around the world in a day anndddddd *come back to me title* errmmm the album that followed, with Kiss on etc are very strong albums from the Revolution era Prince. They are good, but i dunno, they just dont match up to purple rain album for me?

I really like Sign O The Times and Lovesexy, along with some Graffitti Bridge.

That album u are talking of is Parade.

Prince just I think knew he couldn't follow up Purple Rain, so he just went in a totally different direction.

The thing about Prince that is cool is though, U can not find an album since Purple Rain where he tried to use that sound etc.

The Gold Experience maybe was the closest he came to trying but Prince never lived off past glories by trying to redo them.

If anyone hasn't yet. Check out "Emanciaption"  Its 3 brand new discs of music that came out in the mid 90's and is my favorite Prince collection.

Disc 2 is amazing.
