An interesting similarity between Guns N Roses and Black Sabbath

Of course, we all know that Axl is the lone remaining original member still in the entity known as Guns N Roses. And most people know that for most of the 1980s, Tony Iommi was the lone remaining original member of Black Sabbath still in the fold. But that isn't the only similarity.
What's really interesting is that original Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler played for Ozzy's solo band in 1988-89. And of course, we know that there are two original members of GNR (Slash and Duff) in VR. So in other words, during that time, Ozzy's solo band had more members of Black Sabbath than Black Sabbath did, just as Velvet Revolver currently has more members of Guns N Roses than Guns N Roses does.
My intention is not to create another GNR vs. VR thread, or another "Is Axl's band really GNR" thread; it's just an interesting tidbit I thought was worth sharing.

Thats neat.
Also, I just wanted to let you know i heard a good rock band the other day they are called silvertide. I got thier cd and it kicks ass. You can hear some songs on thier website silvertidemusic.com or u can find them on some filesharing site. I just think alot of people might actually like them so i thought i would let u guys knows. They have some Guns n roses feel to them as well as some black crowes. The whole CD is excellent which is rare in this day and age
peace out

That's pretty interesting. I never really thought of that.
Pink Floyd is the band that always reminded me of GNR's situation a bit, except it ended up the opposite for them. David Gilmour (the Slash figure of PF) ended up with the PF name along with the other members while Roger Waters (the Axl figure) was the one to go solo. Of course PF continued to be successful while the so-called genius of the band struggled in his solo career. I always thought that was interesting.
gnrphilly, I like Silvertide but this is not the place to advertise them.

And Axl has Robin Finck in the band, who used to play for Cirque D` Soel (however you spell it). And Kevin Bncon has been to Cirque`D Soel. Kevin Bacon`s sisters wife`s nephew`s former roomate hung out with Ozzy on May 15, 1976.
Bet you did not know about that connection

interesting thought. Geezer also played with the oz in the 90's on ozzmosis. The you could also kind of say that the original sabbath, well the first 5 albums, are why they are such legends and the tony iommi and others versions never approached that. They were still good, but not legendary. That's how I figure the new guns to be. But I guess we'll have to see on that.

Just thought I'd mention Silvertide opened for VR, but I guess you guys don't really want to hear that.

Wasn't Ozzy fired from Black Sabbath (unlike what happened with Gn'R)?

It's not unlike what happened with GNR. Ozzy was fired. But the other two originals (Bill Ward and Geezer Butler) both quit. You could liken that to Guns N Roses. Steven Adler was fired, the other originals quit. But how they exited their respective bands wasn't the point. Ah well...

It's not unlike what happened with GNR.? Ozzy was fired.? But the other two originals (Bill Ward and Geezer Butler) both quit.? You could liken that to Guns N Roses.? Steven Adler was fired, the other originals quit.? But how they exited their respective bands wasn't the point.? Ah well...
I simply pointed out that it's not
that
similar.
