not necessarily a cover... but, I'd love to hear Axl sing Ozzy's "Goodbye to Romance"
and I think the band /Axl could do something interesting with the Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge"...
... "the city I live in, the city of Angels"...
remember the song that Brian May played at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert..?
Queen's "Too Much Love"
I'm just the pieces of the man I used to be
Too many bitter tears are raining down on me
I'm far away from home
And I've been facing this alone
For much too long
I feel like no-one ever told the truth to me
About growing up and what a struggle it would be
In my tangled state of mind
I've been looking back to find
Where I went wrong
Too much love will kill you
If you can't make up your mind
Torn between the lover
And the love you leave behind
You're headed for disaster
'cos you never read the signs
Too much love will kill you
Every time
I'm just the shadow of the man I used to be
And it seems like there's no way out of this for me
I used to bring you sunshine
Now all I ever do is bring you down
How would it be if you were standing in my shoes
Can't you see that it's impossible to choose
No there's no making sense of it
Every way I go I'm bound to lose
Too much love will kill you
Just as sure as none at all
It'll drain the power that's in you
Make you plead and scream and crawl
And the pain will make you crazy
You're the victim of your crime
Too much love will kill you
Every time
Too much love will kill you
It'll make your life a lie
Yes, too much love will kill you
And you won't understand why
You'd give your life, you'd sell your soul
But here it comes again
Too much love will kill you
In the end...
In the end.

and finally... Janis Joplin "Ball and Chain" (with some gender appropriate lyric changes I suppose)

and just cuz I LOVE it...  Led Zepplin's "Whole Lotta Love" and anything from The Doors  ok
I also think that GN'R could do some Pink Floyd very well and make it very interesting.

NO NO NO! ok, you didn't have to post the lyrics and try to brainwash us either.... that Song Brian May did was a decent song but not one to make a cover out of.....  and all your other ideas are lame too......  GnR isn't going to do a cover of a song from a different Genre either..... Under the bridge? wtf?    Thats gotta be the stupidist thing I've ever read... thats like asking Led Zepplin to do a cover of Smells like teen spirit...... you don't want an older band doing a cover song from a newer band.... if it was Red Hot Chili Peppers doing a cover of Welcome To the Jungle, ok yeh that makes sense, but what you were implying was way beyond sensisble.....

Okay, now how about you go and read the rules?

Don't insult other members.

Keep acting like this and you won't be posting here anymore.

What's the problem with GN'R covering a newer band?
Did you have a problem with GN'R covering Soundgarden?

I?d love to hear "Smells like teen spirit" by Led Zepplin, absolutely yeah!

I?d like no covers on CD but all original materials please.

Otherwise?one from completely different genre is preferable. The more varied, the better.
Hmm, how about a Erik Satie piece e.g."Gymnopedies" or "Gnossienne" drool

Then again Zep is good choice to show how much they can vary it to make it their own.
Or "You doo right" - The Can.

Of course, it would have to be the song I most want GnR to cover:

"Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd

I would like to hear them do something different like Summer '68 by Pink Floyd. It might fit in well with their new sound.

Though I wouldn't want it to be an album track.

Led Zepplin- Going to California
Anything with Axl's voice over it will get my attention as long as it's something new and released to the public.
