Learn all about celebrities and their bizarre good luck rituals
London | October 03, 2004 5:09:15 PM IST

Reason and logic seem to take a back seat as far as superstitions are concerned and most of us would swear by that one lucky charm without being able to explain how it works, and now it has been revealed that some of the most famous stars are no different, as they also adhere to the most bizarre rituals for good luck and fortune.
While Oscar winner Julia Roberts reportedly lies on her back when her make-up artist is working on her before every shoot, football ace David Beckham is known to touch the grass in the center of the field before kicking the ball, reports the Sun.
Here is a list of some of the most famous stars and their strange superstitions:
David Beckham: The English skipper and Real Madrid star always touches the grass in the centre circle before kick-off.
Julia Roberts: The 'Erin Brokowich' actress always lies on her back while being made up on a film set to bring good luck.
Tiger Woods: The world's most famous golfer considers red his lucky color, he has worn something red on the final day of a tournament ever since he was eight.
Sophia Loren: The Italian diva believes that the color purple is evil and brings bad luck, which is why she refuses to wear or even touch anything purple.
Bjorn Borg: The Swedish tennis legend wore the same shirt, never had sex or shaved as long as he was winning at Wimbledon.
Rachel Weisz: The 'Mummy' actress checks her front door three times before going to sleep.
Bo Derek: One of the world's most famous sex symbols, the actress lets the phone ring four times before answering it.
Jerry Hall: Supermodel and Mick Jagger's ex-wife, she used to turn round three times before going on the catwalk.
Leonard Nimoy: 'Star Trek's' much loved Dr Spock carries a lucky woolly hat with him wherever he goes.
Axl Rose: The 'Guns N' Roses' frontman refuses to play in towns beginning with M because he believes the letter is cursed.
James Stewart: The late American actor wore the same lucky pair of shoes in the last 25 movies he starred in.
Brian McFadden: The former 'Westlife' singer only goes up lifts with glass exteriors. (ANI)

Mexico isn't a town. Wink

But GN'R have played in places like Mannheim, Manchester, Madrid, Mexico City, Melbourne etc in the 90s and those I listed above on the last tour.

I guess fact checking isn't that important when a journalist writes a list with these "bizarre good luck rituals"?

Uh.... Roll Eyes Mexico City is the capital of Mexico.... ok

Mexico isn't a town. Wink

I guess fact checking isn't that important when a journalist writes a list with these "bizarre good luck rituals"?

I'm aware of that, and that's why I listed Mexico City in my post and not Mexico:

They should have mentioned that he waits until he's completely ready (sometimes hours after scheduled start time) and that he refuses to play in venues where the magnetic forces are too strong or something (I read something about this; I doubt if it's true though).  That was a weak statement.
