I remeber buying user your illusion II on CD while illusion I only on tape. Recently I lost my old UYI 1 tape and wanted to get a CD copy for my car but all my friends have only UYI II on CD? isn't that weird?

UYI2 did sell better. I don't know, maybe the casual fan sees more familiar song names on Illusion2.

Use Your Illusion

« Reply #3 on: September 22, 2004, 07:54:10 PM »

i think the songs on UYI II appeal more to people, they are more crowd pleasing, (i don't really know that that's the right word to describe it, but hopefully you understand what i mean)...which is not a bad thing, just people seem more receptive to them. many of the songs on UYI I aren't quite like that. i think you have to have a deeper appreciation to...well.. appreciate many songs on UYI I i can see why everyone tends to like UYI II better but i think i honestly prefer Use Your Illusion I (just a tad sentimental towards it, it was my first gnr cd and got me hooked)

I personally prefer I over II. Altho it's pretty fucking close. I think II is better when I am in a more mellow mood. LIke II is good on the way to work at 5:30 in the morning and I is better at 3 when I am driving home.

I agree, II is more mellow. Lots of piano, actually if they switched November Rain and You Could be mine it no longer would be balanced. But isn't it strange. there is no simple explanation for this, somehow II sold better.

Maybe it has to do something with the colors.

uyi I is more of "don't tell me what to do" and uyi II is more "so i want to die". it is understandable that the first one is maybe more for the hardcore guns fan. it's not fucking "bloated" at all, so screw that insinuation. it's just bluesy rock n' roll, with IMO a lot more attitude than appetite.

I think that now that you mention it, looking back in retrospective, Illusion I is for Velvet Revolver Fans, and Illusion II is for Axl fans.

eh, i don't think so. vr has absolutely nothing bluesy about them, and you understand every single lyric on the illusion twins; it is in your face.
