I thought GNR were gone forever. That's why the wait isn't so bad to me: at least GNR still exists!

This is actually a good thread...

I read it on the internet. Just a few days earlier I got my 56k dial up connection to the internet and I didn't know what I was looking for. I typed in "Guns N' Roses" in the yahoo bar and the first site that popped up was the Jeff boerio's site ( by the way, whatever happen to that guy??) I clicked on the link and the first thing I saw was the fax Axl had sent to MTV on October 30th updating the status of the band.

Slash was gone. Duff and Matt were still in the band. I was shocked and upset to see Slash go, but I was excited at the same time because Axl promised he was gonna deliver an album anyway. No tour, no vid's, no singles...just an album. I thought " oh well, better than nothing"

Here we are 8 years later and the album hasn't been released yet...

Jeff still runs the Dust N' Bones mailinglist.

On topic: I had just started this site a few days earlier and I didn't even have a news section when that news broke.

I don't remember my first thoughts but I guess they were something like "who's gonna replace him?"....

For me, things will never be the same without Slash. He was as important as Axl in the band.
However, I do think Axl is able to make fantastic music without Slash. No doubt on it. But Slash is a legend and you can't "replace" a legend. He will forever be THE Guns n' Roses guitarist.

I was in school and reading my copy of metal edge magazine and I read slash was out. I remember my first thoughts were "how the fuck do you have guns n roses without slash?" It didn't make sense to me at the time. It was like trying to make water out of elements without using hydrogen. Now when I think about it tho...I feel exactly the same.

I felt he same. It was really ununderstandable for me...GN'R without Slash? It was irrealistic, like a nightmare... Then I've heard that Axl wants to go to that industrial direction which I thought to be the only possibility without Slash, although I didn't like the change and that Axl wants to build up his own Nine Inch Nails with Finck, Vrenna and Moby... I'm still looking for the new GN'R album, but I doubt I can be as big fan of the new band as I am the old's, 'cause my favourite singer and guitarist doesn't work together anymore.

As I stood there, reading what had transpired before my very eyes, I knew it was all over, the end of an era... from that point on, music was just not the same nor is it today.... With my head lowered to the ground and my feet draggin in the dirt, I lay depressed and deprived of good music for 8some odd years until I read that GNR is back!...... When I read that Slash left, I was in complete dissaray.... finding out Slash had left GNR was like finding out the cheese in Kraft Dinner was not really cheese... it was definately the worst day of my life.
