As I recall I surely bought them last year last.

BTW Kudos to your great mums, Joe and Timothy. headbanger

These 2 albums took GNR to the next level.

They showed them as more than a kick ass rock band. The world saw them as artists for the first time.

That is one of things that heightened the anticipation behind their release.

I did not get them at midnight, decided to wait till the next day. Was lucky to  get them. Ah the memories...

I was just 3 months out of high school getting ready to head down to Parris Island for basic.

I bought the albums in late 1992 or early 1993 when GN'R fever was at it's highest here in Australia,  due to them staging the biggest Oz concert ever at Sydney's Eastern Creek raceway in January 1993.
GN'R played with Skid Row and a reformed Rose Tattoo, and I'll never forgive myself for not attending that concert!

Those were some great times, everyone and I mean EVERYONE was into GN'R, and even those who weren't at least knew about them. Even my grandmother knew who GN'R were, they were that popular!

I remember the anticipation for TSI was pretty big too, but it died pretty quickly afterwards unlike with UYI.

Chinese Democracy Is Coming Some Day!!!

« Reply #25 on: September 13, 2004, 09:14:47 PM »

They asked if I would take off early from work to get it. I already have plans to take the entire day off, and am hoping for a midnight sale at HMV or A&B Sound. This new album WILL make history, trust me!!!

For the last couple of years I have kept a couple vacation days free so when we do get the word CD is released I can put in my vacation notice.

I was in grade 11 (I think). I rushed to the record store and bought the tapes as they were being put out on the shelves then rushed home to listen to them.  I was so hyped about UYI because of Civil War being on them. I had heard it a long while before the release date on the radio but hadn't heard it at all since, so I put on UYI2 first. I remember, too, that people at school couldn't belive Axl would sing something like "Ain't that fresh" but i loved it!  To this day that song kicks ass!!!! (Civil War, SCOM and One in A million are my favorites). [I was so disappointed when they didn't play it in Toronto for the 2002 tour btw]. After Get in the Ring came on I think I listened to it about a million times!! playing it for my brothers and all my friends, It was hilarious.  rofl rofl you have to remember at that time there was really nothing like it (swearing) but now thats all you hear. ha ha good times! hihi

I don't even think I heard anything about the UYI albums until about a week before they were released though, I don't think CD will be much different.
