People.co.uk reports that VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland freaked out during a CD signing session at the Piccadilly Virgin Megastore on Friday (September 3) in London after seeing a sticker on the band's CD which said, "Featuring members of GUNS N' ROSES," but contained no mention of Weiland's old band, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. Weiland demanded the sticker be peeled off all stock and the band asked for non-alcoholic beer and fresh fruit at the appearance.

Now if this is true, you got to ask yourself something, it it said Featuring Scott Weiland of STP, would all the stickers have to come off.

Sheesh that's sad.  Maybe Weiland should have thrown the cd's at people instead.

it really isn't their fault STP doesnt get played much in Europe. Getting airplay is what makes a band there and if you're not getting played you're not going to be big. I don't know why some countries in Europe have a problem with 90s bands

Hi everyone! this my 1st post on these boards.
I was at the Manchester gig and I have say I was really dissapointed, I was right at the front and it just seemed that the band just wanted to get the gig over as quick as possible. Scott Didn't huff on us or anything infact I think I would have prefered it if he had. All he did was introduce Falll to Pieces and say he had wrote it while he was having a hard time etc.
I dont understand if they no longer want to be known as members from GNR and STP why play GNR and STP songs in there set , why does Slash come on in his top hat? if they really want to make a clean break?

Dude you gotta understand, no matter what they do they're always gonna be known as the guys from GNR.? Slash could shave his hair and Duff could wear a spandex body suit on stage and matt could continue to be the poster boy for the Gap 40+ store.? They can never shed their past of GNR.? I think it's best for them to continue playing a GNR and STP integrated set and just embrace the fact that the past isn't ever gonna go away.? Look at poor Vanilla Ice...that guy is wacked out beyond compare and there's nothing at all that he can do to ever shed that Ice Ice Baby time in his life.? It's best he just learn to accept it and work with it and move on.? There's no need to throw rock star fits or throw megaphones at people.? The people just want to hold on to what they know and love.? I mean it's not like these guys have a past to be ashamed of.

On the UK version of Contraband it has printed

VR features Ex-G'N'R Members ''Slash'' & ''Duff McKagan'' and former singer with Stone Temple Pilots 'Scott Weiland'

What's his problem then? He gets mentioned.....

I wonder - if Axl did this would i think this behaviour was ''rock n roll'', as it is i find this rather sad.....

This report is bullshit meant to stir-up controversy.  Several british fans who were at the signing have said Scott was upset, but not because the sticker slighted STP.  In fact, all stickers worldwide mention GnR and ex-STP frontman Scott Weiland.  What Weiland didn't like was the fact that both GnR and STP WERE mentioned.  He wants VR to stand on its own merit, not the past bands'.

They should take the chants with a grain of salt and keep doing what Duff did. Inform them that this is Velvet Revolver...chant VR not GNR! If they do that and keep mentioning it in the press it will catch on!

yes, and I am 100% in agreement with him.

And VR DO and CAN stand up on their own merits.  They are an amazing band.

his problem is Blabbermouth.  Holy shit... you lot SLAG blabbermouth off when its a negative about GnR or Axl, yet all believe this shit now ... why?

This is a false story.  Don't believe it.

I don't know about this story, but as we were standing in line to get inside the Virgin Megastore a paper was making its way down the line. It basically said that they would not sign anything by GN'R or STP.

You mustn't have been to that many gigs then....
I have been to dozens of gigs; from bands on the way up to fucking legends and I can say that the VR gig was not that good  - the gig was too short and the mixing was shite.

Oh, and when you get a minute,  try and be presumptuous, willya-  this is my 3rd post and not said shit about Axl so you dont know what I think about Axl. And obviously I'm not the one who thinks my heroes' shit doesn't stink...

Hmm.
I don't think I would give a shit.

As for the Slash and his wearing his top hat, I wouldn't stop either if i were him. It's as much him as it is GNR. GNR does not have Slash anymore. That also means they don't have his top hat.
