A commercial for Guns N' Roses's new album just came on VH1 during 'Insomniac Music Theatre'. I was thinkin' in my head that this had to be a "wtf!" moment but it turned out to be a joke. The commercial came out of nowhere at about 2:00 am central and it said something to the extent of "if you have the new Guns N' Roses album then you've gone through time with a time machine to the year 2047", and then it just faded out. I am assuming it was just some Conan O' Brienesque joke about Guns N' Roses since the VH1 logo appeared at the end of the commercial, but it's so peculiar that this came out of nowhere. So strange.

Yeah, pretty much, and they didn't say 'Chinese Democracy' but "Guns N' Roses's new album".

Thats kind of strange. Does anyone know if VH1 has ever done this to any other band before, do they usually have joke commercials?
Maybe this is the start of something??? Axl likes to poke fun at himself, just look at the cartoon at the begining of the Rio show and some of the rants from the 2002 tour about starting riots and being late etc.... This could be the start of some promotion for the album. I can see Axl putting something like this out. As for the VH1 logo at the end of the clip maybe it was produced by VH1 specifically for VH1.
Another thing, how do we know this album is still called Chinese Democracy, when was the last time axl said that this is what the album was called?
Just my thoughts

that's true.. he does like poking fun at himself.. i remember in the pittsburgh show he went "i see we have some gamblers here.. how many of you actually thought we'd show up?"? so this could've definetly been axl..?

Please stop with the conspiracies. Its just a joke. When there is a commercial on tv we will know about and see it.
Its pretty cool to see people would actually put commercials on tv about this album. When theres an actual release date the hype/press and anticipation is going to be at an all time high.

It's not THAT simple. I know that it could be a commercial for a show they're preparing, but if it's not then TV time is too expensive to be spent on jokes. Trust me, I know lots of shit about this. It's definitely not just a joke. It could be a joke as a part of a show they're preparing but they don't have enough time to make fun on fans...

I saw the end of that thing. The headline said Guns N' Roses new album, and something about 1963?? I thought maybe they were comparing it to the beach boys album that never came out. But I saw the same thing real late last night after I got in from partyin.
