Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« on: September 01, 2004, 06:46:53 PM »

I read it was very difficult for him back in the days because he was the biggest Rockstar in the world and that he had to deal with a lot of pressure. Do you think Axl is still afraid by the succes and that's why he hides himself from the public life?

Yes, he is afraid that his Masterpiece (Chinese Democracy) flops, and that it's sad, what happened to the Axl that we saw in the Welcome to the jungle video who gives a fuck in what the others think about him?.

I think that we have to show him that he still have our support.

Its insane to think he'll ever be as big as he was. He could release the greatest album ever and not be, times are different. He probably does have a legit fear of this album being rejected tho.

I think he's just scared, might not be the most confident about the material... I think something was going to hppen in 2002, just something went wrong.. I sometimes agree with people in btm saying he was trying to make gnr relevant with the times, and everytime he was about to do it the times changed... He seems like someone that cares about what others say and think of him...

The other part was the wide eyed version of reality...I believe he might have an album that he wants to create that might only be possible in his mind.. Being unsure over the years is definetly one reason everything is taking so long..

He must be so different now then when he left, who knows what he's affraid of?

Maybe with the cancellation of the tour, the riots, and the pressure he is really scared, maybe back in 2002 he thought that his return would be glorious and when he saw the poor ticket sales.........but as you said Mike, something was going to happen..

There is no reason to be scared though.

Life is way too short to be scared.
Either you succeed, either you fail.

In both, there is a learning experience to take.

That's worth for everyone, not just axl.

Who wants to live with regrets ?

I think if he has an alright Project (CD) MTV will give him a big Push, Look at U2 and Metallica MTV gave them both big pushes with their last albums. Axl just need to release CD, some people will love it some with hate it same with any album.

He doesn't want to be the biggest rock star again.  He'll make it a point NOT to be that big again.  He'll release the album, just on HIS own terms, NOT OURS.

Well, I think he is doing whatever he thinks is best for him. So in my opinion he does cares what people think of him, but he puts himself in the 1st place. Which is logic.

But I think now would be the best time to make a comeback. If that's what's holding him down, he should realize that there will never be a better time than now. Look at the Versace posters in the window. I also see it around me, people are getting more and more in to old-school hardrock a la GNR. He's becoming fashion again within the next few years whether or not he releases the album.

Pharrel Williams already said it last year that one of his dreams was to make an acoustic record with Axl. Pharrel is ahead of his time, so I know for sure that Axl/GNR/80's rock will be HUGE within the next few years.

Mark my words: rock a la GNR will become THE hype for the next few years, it will kick hip-hop/rap's ass..... i'll bet my life on it.....

I didn't say that I bet my life on Axl's CD. I'll bet my life on the fact the rock a la GNR will be huge, and the image that comes with it. So 80's rockstar and clothing style will be huge, so I think that if Axl releases something the time would be best if it was now.....

Its a shame Axl had an anger managment problem in the first place. Perhaps that caused his fear of sucess? I mean he had an uzi and i think a beratta in his house hidden in his family room.

One person's morality is another person's nonsense

« Reply #16 on: September 03, 2004, 11:45:53 AM »

Axl definitely had anager management issues.  I remember reading those articles about how he kept an Uzi behind his couch and had a bunch of other weapons around his home.   Huh

I'm not sure if he's afraid of success, though.  It seems to me that he's more afraid of CD flopping and him being irrelevant in today's society.

rock is cyclical like everything else and so music like gnr's or with a heavy gnr inffluence will be cool in the future, and people will look back to see the influiences of there favorite artist, the originals and discover gnr and fall in love with that, hell thats how i found zeppelin
