Did anybody catch this show. It is the usual Bull shit build up o the vma's. Anyhow the only interesting bit was when GNR walked out. It showed you the buildup and how no one belived that the mighty GNR would show. They talked about how they refrerred to GNR as project x, the frogs etc.
They showed the band playing wtj and then AXL walked on and said to a sound guy who was talking to him (whilst the band played pc i belive):

" You can talk all you want I can't read lips"

Axl could obviously not hear the guy over the music but he sounded pissed. It looked similar to RIR sound check when he looks like he wants to rip the guys throat out. Anyhow the thing I found interesting was whilst the band soundchecked images of the chinese dragon from the 2002 tour flashed on the screen (This unless I am mistaken never played on the night) There also looked like writing on the screen that may have said cd or not I am not sure. Has any seen this got any more foootage. I loved it when AXl screamed round one, I guess we are ready for round two!!!!

This year, though, they've added quite a bit of footage. It shows Axl and Tommy behind the curtain right before the performance, and it showed a few clips of the performance from other camera angles. And they talked about GNR-past and how Axl was the biggest rock star in the world, but around '93 he went away, and that every year since then, GNR has always been on the "to-do list", but nothing would ever happen, they would move on, until GNR people told MTV in '02 that they'd be there. It was cool...

Its interesting to note how the GN'R rehearsal footage is quite vague and unclear, even though a picture exists of Axl from that day with a camera man pointing right at him. Surely MTV would have shown more close-up footage if they had it?

Yeah i bet the rehearsal footage of the band is either amazing or really really bad. I remember last year when they first played this show on MTV and showed the rehearsal footage, everyone was really pissed off because they thought Axl didnt sing. I think its safe to say that Axl did sing as we have pictures of him doing it. It is strange though, i dont know why they didnt show that footage!
