It's better to burn out than to fade away...

You know, considering that the state of Chinese Democracy and the "new" Guns N' Roses is more uncertain than ever, it seems to me that GN'R fans have a surprising amount to cheer for this year.  We've already seen the release of Greatest Hits, which, if nothing else, has proven that GN'R is still beloved by millions of record-buyers and would perform well in the modern music market.  I mean, that compilation has already done way better than Nirvana's best-of album, and THAT had an original unreleased track on it!  Hmm...

And this summer, not only will we see the release of the Velvet Revolver album (which, when you think about it, is more "Guns N' Roses" than Guns N' Roses in terms of actual original members), which promises to be a very kick-ass record...but now we'll also get a chance to listen to original recordings from the proto-GN'R, Hollywood Rose!  A bunch of new songs by a young, angry Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin'?  I'm there!

I can't wait for the Hollywood Rose album to come out.  It'll be so great to hear Axl's voice on recordings I haven't heard - not only young and screeching at the height of his vocal powers, but retaining the hard, bluesy, punk sound that would later define classic GN'R.  Sure, Slash isn't on there, so it's not going to sound that much like the real Guns N' Roses.  But it's great to hear an angry young Axl Rose on unheard material.  The cover looks really cool.  I always thought that "Anything Goes" was a very underrated track, as well, so it'll be interesting to hear this new version.

Gilby Clarke? WTF?!?

Talk about a guy being in the right place at the right time and then milking it for all it's worth. You'd think he was actually in GnR or something.

He toured the world with them and appears on three albums  - he's as close to a fuckin' member as you can get.

Remember not even Slash is an original member of GNR.

If Gilby wants to continue his assoc with GNR then more power to him.

He did but surprisingly enough Live Era and The Greatest Hits are albums the latter one that's sold a hell of a lot

10. Wreckless Life (Feat. Tracii Guns - over dub guitar)

15. Wreckless Life

On GN'R Lies it's Reckless Life! However I assume it's the same song?

Yes it's the same song! Wink
Just like My Way, Your Way became Anything Goes on Appetite (I'm surprised they didn't use the original title for this one).

Except for the Matrix intro with the chinese characters ; if you ask me this probably means they're also going to release Chinese Democracy. I mean, Cleopatra Records must have a pretty close connexion to Axl for him to allow them to release this Hollywood Rose thing.   Wink

I'd bet Axl doesn't want this out just as much as the GH. His whole goal (if he really has one) is to distance himself from the past at all costs. But he probably doesn't own the rights to these tracks, much like Geffen with all the GH masters. It is funny though, with all this stuff coming out between  GH,VR, HR, and the unauthorized  biography, GNR has cetainly gotten alot of exposure, maybe they really are "the band that won't die."

I'm really pumped for this cd. Could be the last original never before heard songs that we hear of axl. Just assuming that he will never release another cd, but I could be wrong.
