Appetite then Contraband

Appetite is the greatest album of all time,no doubt. Im sure most of you agree on that.. I have to say though Contraband for me is a more complete album than either of the Illusions. The Illisions have song amzing songs,some of the best ive ever known but combined they have too much filler. Contraband verses either illusions on its own is a better record.

How can you compare the Illusions to Contraband There are both to different types of albums and there is no way Illusions touches Contraband you couldn't imagine VR doing something like November Rain or Estragned we need to stop comparing.

CB is more cohesive than UYI...  It has focus and direction and other related attributes that UYI does not.

But ultimately, when it comes to the pleasure of listening, I still prefer UYI.

Maybe slashedguns believes the greatest band of all time is Guns N' Roses (Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff & Steven).

Maybe he holds a "low" regard concerning the latest version of Guns N' Roses.

Guns N' Roses has many different versions.? I'd say if you like any of the versions, you are certainly entitled to consider yourself a "fan".

But this is the "Wasn't Yesterday Great" area of the board....is it not??? And this is the "Velvet Revolver" section of the "Wasn't Yesterday Great" area......is it not??

So, then, like, uh-huh....this would be the correct pasture to communicate such an "opinion".

There is a "Guns N' Roses" section where you can go park yourself and discuss what might have been....or what may be.

Here, we actually get to comment on a real-live cd and a real-live tour.

I see what your saying, but I hold a different POV. I think that The Illusion albums were more like the Beatles White album, a mosaic of different styles, and Pink Floyd's The Wall--art rock. Contraband is more like AFD in being just a great, rock record.

To each his own. I like "Perfect Crime" and "Bad Apples." I love "Dead Horse." "You Ain't the first" is ok, but not great.

I love "Get in the Ring" and "My World" believe it or not Don't Cry (Alt.) is a good way to bring the album to the ground after YCBM.

Those are some pretty good songs but they could of done better

I find it funny how the people who love to say how CB is better than UYI or even AFD,{ i know stop laughing} yet these are the same same peopel  that denounce any notion that new gnr can do better than old gnr because as they say, what made old gnr great and untouchable, was the fact that they were a "group" of 5 members who all equally "contributed" in making some special albums. Yet those same people are telling me how CB is better than some GNR efforts. Even though there missing one of the greatest frontman rock has ever known.  Strange.

I keep seeing this garbage about 'filler' on the illusion albums. Maybe it's me but I can play em both straight thru and not want to skip one song. (that's of course not counting 'my world' because that never really happened.) Some of the songs most often referred to as filler are some of my favorites. I may be alone but Get in the Ring is fuckin awesome. I like Bad apples alot too. And every other song from both albums (again not including 'my world' which is just a myth-UYI2 only has 13 tracks)
