Scott Weiland has a great stage presence  smoking, yes. He has a nice (well, at least non-annoying Grin) voice, yes. But he can't do no melodies  Cry with this material (he was good on this on STP Smiley, but not here, not with these guys Cry. Maybe the only exception is You got No Right Smiley - not the studio version, the one they played live & accoustic with Izzy ok). I wish some instrumental demos can surface in the very near future Huh, because I just can not listen to this record  drool - even tough the instrumental is very good. Yes, it is very good, not great, because Dave Kushner is a filler  Shocked. He mirrors Slash's guitar most of the time drool, and when he is not doing it he is just doing "noises" drool drool drool drool, wich is not very entertaining. There is no "guitar duels" on Contraband - not a single one that I can remember Sad. Don't get me wrong, I've seen these guys live and they rock the shit out of the place ok. The show rocks, period Cheesy. But it is sad to see that this is not a perfect band, oh no. But wait. They said no to Izzy  Shocked when he said "let's go out and play rock n' roll". So they deserve to be where they are Cry. Oh yes they do. Maybe Slash is willing to play only his songs Huh, not Izzy's. It is a shame Cry, because Izzy knows how to write a tune, and Slash just can't do that very well Grin. So, maybe one day, when Izzy and Slash play together again, we can have a perfect band AGAIN Wink.

Scott and Slash thought Izzys songs were outdated, and sound like his solo records. No offense to Izzy, but they didnt feel they would get enough recognition using his music. Like Izzy says...he just wants to jam, and play in small clubs. His songs are nothing special, or else the band would have used 1 or 2 at the very least. Scotts melodies are actually very good. A bit different.. but thats what they were trying to do.

They played YGNR with Izzy? When was this? Did i miss something? Does a version of this exsist?

And when you said they turned Izzy down, thats not how it was reported. it was reported Izzy just wanted to work with them in the studio and didnt want to work with another singer again after AXL.

But wait. They said no to Izzy   when he said "let's go out and play rock n' roll". So they deserve to be where they are . Oh yes they do. Maybe Slash is willing to play only his songs , not Izzy's. It is a shame , because Izzy knows how to write a tune, and Slash just can't do that very well

Slash and VR play "Its So Easy" "Mr B." and "Used to Love Her" which Izzy helped write and I wouldnt be surpized if he did most of the parts for the AFD songs, so He plays Izzy songs.  Slash also plays, Cheap Trick, Nirvana, STP, and others so you can't say Slash just likes to play his own songs.

Here's a few tips for you Newbie.

1) Get your facts straight some of the things you are saying may of happened in your world but they didnt happen on earth.

2) Don't use so many smiley faces if you want people to read them and take you serious.

3) Face the music and the facts you oviously want an original GnR line-up and it doesnt exist, wether you Like VR or not is up to you, no hair off my back.

As far as I know it was Scott who didn't like the songs of the Slash/izzy/Duff/Matt colaboration, because he thought it was like Guns N' Roses. Even Slash said in an interveiw that the 10 songs they wrote together could have been the best GN'R album, so I'm looking forward to hear it. Maybe Izzy releases them, maybe Sebastian Bach  Wink
And Scott can really write memories. I don't want to caompare him to Axl, my favourite singer of all time, but Scott does a very great job on Contraband, he's one of the best singers out there.

Yes, it exists. Maybe you can still download it from belowempty.com

Yup...The sole live performance of "You Got No Right" at the Susan Holmes fashion show, October 2003.  Incredible rendition.  You can probably find the video at Velvet-Revolver.com.  Unfortunately, Izzy is barely visible, but you can catch him quickly in the beginning and end.

First of all that was the most annoying post I ever saw with all those queer fucking smilies. About your post, everyone is entitled to their opinions but you appear a bit clueless. To say Scott can't do melodies is pretty damn funny because that is one of his greatest talents. And about Dave Mirroring Slash's parts, you are just wrong........

What's with picking on the non ex-GNR members in VR?  IMO, I think Scott has great melodies and Dave did an excellent job doing rhythm...Sure I would have liked to see Izzy reunite with the guys...but then again...wouldn't we all like to see the original GNR line up reunite?...it ain't gonna happen.  VR and Contraband are both excellent...

I like the job Dave did on contraband. It would be nice to see him stand out a bit more, not volume as much as style. Izzy and Slash were sooo fucking different and they're both recognizable on AFD. The illusion albums it's a little harder to tell, maybe because like u always hear Slash did the majority of the playing. All in all tho, Dave is good, should try to stand out more.
