Guns N' Roses stunned a sea of fans by
reuniting
on stage in one of the greatest moments in MTV history. Performing a monstrous medley including "Paradise City" and "Welcome to the Jungle," the band served up a stellar performance to satisfy every fan's decade-old appetite for destruction.

Hey, it WAS a shocking reunion. I never thought Finck was coming back after he left to tour with NIN either!

The reunion aspect they are referring to is probably the fact that Axl reunited enough pieces of his mind to be able to come out and perform.
Axl himself mentioned this during the abborted tour...

they don't give a fuck about music, it's all money.
if it even crossed their minds at all, they probably thought Buckethead was Slash...and they have probably never known who anyone else in the band was.
