Estranged and Miss you in a heartbeat if i'm damn near suicidal

But other wise its Pantera's 'Cowboys from Hell ' album at a volume loud enough to cause the speakers to bounce - that usually pulls me through

It's better to burn out than to fade away...

« Reply #7 on: August 09, 2004, 11:09:33 PM »

Strangely enough, for me, the mood sets the music, not the other way around.  So if I'm depressed, I always end up putting on depressing music.  Don't ask me why.  So when I'm down in the dumps, I'll listen to stuff like Pornography by The Cure, any Nirvana album, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and so forth.  Sometimes, though, I'll put on a good Motley Crue track or something - some good fist-pumping classic metal - and that'll make me feel, if not better, than at least more pumped up.  I don't know, maybe I'm an emotional masochist.  Or maybe I like knowing that somebody else feels the same way as me.  Whatever.

That said, there are a lot of songs I listen to when I really DO want to feel better.  It's usually some anthemic rock song like "Baba O' Reilly" by The Who, "Unchained" by Van Halen, or "Dammit (Growing Up)" by Blink-182.  If I could recommend one great song to listen to when you want to feel better, try "Push" by The Cure.  The great thing about that song is that to some people it's a happy song, to others it's a sad song.  The emotional ambiguity makes it a great song for whatever mood you're in.

If your feeling sad because of some girl, listen to "Rip it Out" from Ace Frehley's 1978 solo album.

Music to listen to when you are feeling like utter crap, eh?  Well, when somewhat depressed, I tend to listen to a lot of Tori Amos, Heather Nova, U2, The Cure, and uhhh hate to admit this, but also some J Lo (her latest album).  Thank gawd I am not often in a sad state of mind Smiley

You like that cd? I got it when it came out and it never ever grew on me. I honestly kinda thought it was terrible.

its very subjective

i can understand why people wouldnt like it, its a total 180 from bon jovi music

its a very introspective album, very personal very left of right for jon

i love it cause i can relate to so much of that cd, every song is so personal and a deeper look into jon than what u get on bon jovi records

"starin at your window with a suitcase in my hand" is such an amazing song! that whole cd resonates with me, i love it in the "these days" sort of way, its a very different direction than most bon jovi albums, more mellow i guess
