This could be Axls chance to do another RIR concert...?
Millenium bcp and SIC have already signed a contract with Rock in Rio for the next edition in Lisbon.
The world?s greatest music festival will return to Lisbon in 2006, it was announced yesterday in a press conference by Roberto Medina, promoter of the festival.
In a meeting designed to know the results of the first edition of the Rock in Rio festival outside Brazil, Roberto Medina has ended up signing the contract with the Municipality of Lisbon to the next edition in the capital of Portugal.
It is also guaranteed the partnership with SIC, that will be kept as the official television of Rock in Rio-Lisboa, as well as with Millennium bcp that will continue to be the main sponsor of the festival.
With these two partnerships guaranteed, Roberto Medina says that "The second edition of Rock in Rio-Lisboa is now a reality".
This initiative was a reality thanks to the success of the festival, that managed to gather in the City of Rock, in the Bela Vista Park, 385 thousand people, ?the highest figure after the Brazilian edition of Rock in Rio", Roberto Medina assured.
The promoter of the festival was very happy with the way how all the team, composed of Portuguese and Brazilian members, has worked to make this festival a reality.
In the opinion of Roberto Medina "the Portuguese people has exceeded itself by largely participating in this event that intends to contribute to the creation of a better world. The social component of Rock in Rio-Lisboa will help children worldwide and in Portugal. In our country, that help will come through the TV channel SIC Esperan?a, that will distribute amongst several institutions part of the revenue from the tickets selling and the money received during the campaign held by the oil company BP.
"It will be a pleasure to be in the next festival as the official television ", says Ra?l Azevedo, president of SIC Esperan?a. He also noted the notoriety of all the SIC channels, mainly that of SIC Radical which broadcasts the live 14 hours of party every day.
Santana Lopes supports the next edition in Lisbon
The Lisbon?s mayor, Pedro Santana Lopes, was also present in this meeting and he guaranteed, once again, that "the spread of the Lisbon?s image abroad was enough to obtain the return of the investment in this event".
Santana Lopes, with a little be of irony, said that ?there is also place to those who want to organize a festival with this characteristics of social support without thinking only in terms of benefits ".
Referring to some show business producers who are criticizing the support of the municipality to this project, Santana Lopes also said that "unfortunately, the great part of the people who live in Lisbon did not know this magnificent space existing in the City.
?And the one who made this wasn?t me but the President of the Republic, Jorge Sampaio, at the time he was the mayor of the city and who is here today visiting the City of Rock ". However, many infrastructures lacked in this space ?as telephone, electricity, water and internet, which were implemented thanks to Rock in Rio-Lisboa", Santana Lopes noted.
Filipe Pinhal, vice-president of Millennium bcp, guaranteed a very positive balance from the banking entity at this time. "The investment return is already assured by means of the brand?s notoriety ", Filipe Pinhal highlighted.
As it is already signed the agreement to the edition of 2006, the vice-president of Millennium bcp assures that next week ?it will appear advertising to the next edition and to its partnership with Rock in Rio".
Until then ?we have 104 weeks and we do not want to miss this wave ", Filipe Pinhal said.
The investment made by Millennium in Rock in Rio-Lisboa ?was considered a risky investment because it wasn?t usual in Portugal for a bank to be associated with this type of events ", he notes. But the reality proved the opposite and ?last Friday we have signed the agreement to 2006".
As a result, we can say that Rock in Rio-Lisboa is not ending but just preparing the party to the return of the world?s greatest music festival.
