Go Bananas!

« on: August 03, 2004, 08:26:31 PM »

Now that people dont even have to leave the house anymore to buy tickets (Ticketmaster) I'd like to know what it was like standing in line waiting and eventually getting your tickets back in the Appetite and Illusions days? Were there huge lines stretching for blocks, did anyone get in any fights in line, make friends in the lines, did anyone maybe find a future boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse in line? When you got them did you brag to your friends about who had the better seats, keep them in a wallet for all to see whenever u wanted, or did you store them away under lock and key. If you have have stories please feel free to share them  Cheesy

BTW: Please dont think I'm dumb for asking this question, Im only 17 and I want to know what the experience of waiting for a big huge tour for an incredible band is like. Maybe i'll even get my own chance to experience it soon enough when Chinese Democracy comes out yes

I called this bus company and ordered a ticket and trip to see GN'R in Stockholm on August 16th, 1991.

Stood in line in SLC back for the UYI tour.

Stood a while for that one.

Bought tics over the net (much easier) for 3 concerts in 02. Drove 6 hours for one, and 5.5 for another. Third was canceled.

When I saw them in 1988, I drove an hour to get the general admission tickets.  I wanted to buy 6, but when I finally got to the window, they told me there were only 8 left, so I bought 8.  Yeah, the guys behind me were pissed off.  hihi

In 1991, I sat in front of a music store for hours waiting for it to open.  It was really cool because of course everyone around you waiting was also a gunner.  We drank for hours and banged on the door 1 min before it was to open.

In 1992, my friends bought them because I had to work.

Waiting for tickets used to be quite fun actually - especially if the weather was nice - winters sucked.  Tongue

I'm almost embarassed to admit this:

I've never stood in a line to buy tix.

For the GnR /Aerosmith show in 88 (Middletown NY on 8/8/88...it's the only GnR date I ever remember!), my uncle got us tix.

For the '92 Foxboro show, a friend and his girl got our tix.

In '93 in Hartford, the same friend who bought the Foxboro tix again did the line wait.

For the '02 show, I used the presale on Ticketmaster.
