Here are the ones that I can think off:

"Zero the Hero" by Black Sabbath has a similar riff to "Paradise City." The liner notes of the "Born Again" album point that out. A cool and underrated album, btw.

The end of "Dropin like flies" from Motley Crue's self-titled 1994 album has the exact same riff as the main riff in "Locomotive."

Doesn't one of the Red Hot Chilli Pepper's songs off Mother's Milk have the riff (or maybe its a lick) to sweet child of mine at the end of it?

yeah John plays the SCOM intro on at the end of a song, thats because he was a gigantic Slash fan at the time (even thanks him in the thank yous) ok

ironically, around 5:30 this morning i heard a strokes song from their most recent album - the one that has a riff that sounds similar to SCOM. not sure of the name of the song, but i think it's "the end has no end", or something like that.

Unfortunately Bad obsessions starting/main riff is very very similar to one of the talking head's songs.
It seems GNR stole it from them.   Embarrassed

Any song in particular? I'm curious.... I'm a huge Darkness fan, but aside from some of the soloing by Justin sounding similar to something Slash might play, I don't really notice any similarities between them and GNR, old or new? Undecided

As an aside, the verse riff to Bad Apples sounds quite similar to some of the riffage in Zeppelin's Black Dog, albeit at a completely different tempo.

i was listening to the radio and this song called "American Hair Band" by a band called 'Tuff' came on and it was awsome how they put down grunge and bashed kid rock and stuff while they mentioned all the 80's bands.. and in one part it went something like "I want Axl, GnR, and I want SLASH!! *scom intro solo*"

The beginning of "lifestyles of the rich and famous" from Good Charlotte sounds just like the beginning of shotgun blues, doesn't anyone agree??

Um...Born Again was released in 1983...

So that would be a Sabbath riff in a GN'R song.

A punk band called Deisel Boy have a tune about metal music and the bridge goes..."Give me glam rock..give me thrash....give me Axl......give me Slash!!
