in my age and my country(24,serbia) guns n roses are realy popular and legendary band,in fact gnr is the most popular rnr band here.
Yes many people hate gne,but whoare they people
-(iron maiden(or some band like iron maiden) fans!
Why?
Because gnr 1988 had tour with iron maiden, and iron maiden was a first band, but that were gnr tour(because the most people came to see guns n roses)
- nirvana fans!
why?
Because gnr had different style, and were much much bigger than nirvana(nirvana was mtv band, but gnr were realy popular band with great tour, great selling...)
-People who don't like rnr
Why?
-Because they are i n bad mood

I'm 15 and a lot of my friends like Guns N' Roses, but then again a lot of my friends like 'old' rock music. Most of my friends know nothing about nu-GnR

I think their popularity is growing this year.

Not that this confirms it, but I just saw an 18 year old wearing a UYI t shirt yesterday - almost shit.

Now good time to release

i never ever listen to the radio but today i had to go to someone's house and a store and forgot to bring my cds along.. i on the way to the person's house i heard Civil War and on the way back from the store on the same station (a 20-25 min gap tops) i heard Used to love her.. so they're still getting really good air time.. so i wouldnt be surprised if alot of people are into gnr..

WAAF, however, also plays tons of Guns N' Roses, as does WBCN.  In fact, they are now getting at least equal airtime with Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Metallica, et al, which hasn't been the case for years.  'BCN never played them until sometime in the last year or so, but now they're on probably once every hour or two.  And that's not to mention the massive airplay for Velvet Revolver.  On another Boston-related note, the opening chords to "Welcome to the Jungle" have been played during kickoffs at Gillette Stadium (and Foxboro Stadium before it) for years now.  GNR are more popular now than they have been for at least 10 years.

I agree that GNR's popularity has grown recently, but most people I talk to think GNR is ancient history.   Sad  I seem to be one of only a few who still seem to talk about them.  I'm just hoping that one day GNR will be even more relevant - but who knows, right?  Maybe when Chinese Democracy comes out some of these idiots will see that GNR MADE history.   Smiley

You lucky bastards!! People have no taste in my country.
I bet that if I ask 100 people on the street(and I don't mean 70 year old grandmas), 90 of them will say they have never heard about GNR an 10 will say: "yeah, man, are they back? I can't wait to see Slash again"

I know heeps of people who are into em', alot are the old school fans who have seen em' too.
But most of them only know of the new GNR from MTV O2' and thats it!!!, and they were pissed off about THAT GUY WITH THE KFC BOX n' THAT FUCKIN' FREAK ON GUITAR n' WERE THE FUCK IS SLASH shit.
I fully had enough of tellin' people that CHI-DEM's coming 'cause they say i've been sayin' that shit for years now and its never gonna come out!!

But besides that, the name and music of Gunes N' Roses is still very popular around here, but it's cool when you get to tell someone about it who has no idea about whats going on and they start going fuckin' crazy after you show em' a few new songs n' bootlegs yes ok...............GNR's ALIVE they scream hihi, just doin' my part for GNR popularity status this year the year before n' before that n' that n' next year until it fuckin' comes out crying

You couldn't  be more wrong.  I listen to WAAF and WBCN everyday.  Each of those radio stations has GNR on pretty heavy rotation.  Both stations play the entire AFD album as well.  I hear My Michelle and Rocket Queen on WBCN sometimes.  I would say that as far as regions go, Boston has a lot more GNR fans than other parts of the USA.

No offense dude, but I have no idea where you  are coming from with that.

--------------

I will say this those.  Even though GNR has a ton of fans still, the nuGNR has almost no fans whatsoever.  If you leave the people on the internet GNR boards out of it, then the nuGNR has zero fans really./  They will need to make it on their own merit.

WAAF may play a fair amount of GN'R, but they tore apart the band after their show at the Fleetcenter in 2002. I was there, the crowd loved it and was horse from shouting. Then the next day, I couldn't believe my ears, WAAF was tearing it apart and had listeneners on the air who said the show sucked, and they didn't let anyone with a positive comment go on the air. I gues the Djs are too busy kissing Staind and Godsmacks ass...

And the Boston Globe hates Axl. Steve Morse (Rock Notes) and Renne Grahm (Life In The Pop Lane) have it in for him

I was at that show too, and it was a very good show.  I did hear the negative stuff the following day on WAAF as well, and I read in the globe where they got a pretty bad review.  Keep in mind that the review was negative because the writer thought that a band of hired guns playing mostly AFD songs without even a single released was a joke (and he/she was completely right about that).

That's what I was getting at in my post.  The popularity of old-GNR is still huge.  nuGNR is regarded by almost every person inside or outside of the music industry as a complete and utter fucking joke at this point.  They will have to make it on there own.

Tyrod, it's obvious that nu-GNR has very, very few fans: 99% of the general populations have never even seen them, much less heard them. That will obviously change when the album comes out...

a song like "the blues" or "madagascar" could appeal to a massive audience.
