Thank god someone realizes that Ozzy has just been LUCKY. He's had one of the BEST guitarist ever. Randy (Over the Mountain,Crazy Train) Randy MADE OZZY. Tonny I. wasnt bad either, and Zack Wylde is pretty damn good.  IT IS WASNT FOR RHODES ozzzy wouldnt of had a great starting solo career.

Ozzy has indeed been fortunate in the guitar player department, but they aren't the sole reason he's successful.  They had great chemistry with Ozzy, just like Axl and Slash once had.

Ozzy actually instigated the riff for "Suicide Solution".  Randy was cleaning his guitar strings one day, and the way he was doing it made the basic sounds of the riffs for "Suicide Solution".  Ozzy spoke up and said "hey, that sounds great, keep it!"

As I said, Randy was great, but Ozzy brought out the best in him, just like Axl brought out the best in Slash.  Listen to Randy's early work with Quiet Riot and you'll see what I mean.  It's good, but nowhere near the quality of his work with Ozzy.

Yeah, and other songs like 'No More Tears' came up like 'Suicide Solution' did.

Yeah thats true he evolved a shit load from Quiet Riot. I love old school Ozzy. It just hurts that everyone knows him as a bumbling, drugged out old man who doesnt make sense. I just hope Axl never does a reality show. Ozzy breaks my heart. Axl would kill me

Yes, and while I will concede that Ozzy was lucky to have Randy, the reverse is also true.  Randy was lucky to have been hired by Ozzy, because Ozzy brought out the best in Randy, and he gave Randy a huge forum to present his enormous guitar talents.

Agreed that Axl should put the name to rest. What he has going on is so far from Guns N Roses. Speaking for myself I would regain so much lost respect for Axl if he had the balls to go out as Axl Rose.

Axl, Paul McCartney isn't the Beatles.  You arn't GNR.

Trust me I will still buy CD, byt it would be better if you just go solo on this one man.

Once again about the GNR name. Why do you all give a fuck??? Besides, being called GNR,the band will be more succesful and you'll see more of it.

And how would Richard Fortus or Tommy Stinson feel if they were singing in a band called "Axl Rose"? Does anyone give a fuck about most solo artists' bands??? Lots of them are magnificent musicians, but I admit I don't know the name of Alice Cooper's guitar player, for example.

Its so fucking sad to see him bumbling around. Hunched over. My 90 year old grandpa walks better and makes more sense. When I seen that show my vision in my head of Ozzy was shot down. Sharon just wanted to be in the limelight and whored out her whole family.

Manage if Randy didnt die in the airplane.  Zakk is a good guitarist but I prefer Randy's style.

Actually, Diary of a Madman would've been Randy's last album with Ozzy anyway, for he was planning on quitting and going to college to learn classical guitar.  His goal then was to blend the fields of Rock n Roll and classical guitars.

I think it's entirely too late for Axl to drop the GNR name. Continuing with the name definitely added pressure, but it has gone far beyond that at this point. It becomes harder to let it go the longer he waits.  Dropping the name may appease those who are against it, but in the end it could actually hurt him because he will be conceeding that he was wrong. Everyone is expecting Chinese Democracy to be the next Guns N Roses album so it has to be all or nothing. The only way for him to resurrect his career is to release it already.

hey Acquiesce, you neatly summarized my opinions  ok

But one thing I'd like to add is that while dropping the name is an act of concession, it would also give him a much needed dose of humility, and bring him 'down to earth'.  Wink

Very true and well spoken. After the last 7 years AXL has made the world wait and know that he is GnR. Its too late to change names, or everyone else will rip him a new one saying how he can't handle the pressure, or live up to the name, or cant complete CD

I knew about his intentions to learn classical guitar, but are you sure he was going to leave Ozzy?
